Abstract: On each tooth of the belt one type carrier is pivotally mounted by means of one pin each. The type carrier, which preferably accommodates two type characters, is U-shaped, embracing the belt with a certain amount of play. The play, which exists both in a vertical direction and in the direction of firing of the print hammers, permits an accurate alignment of each type carrier in the guide provided in the printer station.

Abstract: The striker type printer has type carriers revolving crossways to the feed direction of the printing cloth which has a roller on which it is wound or unwound. The cloth (4) is guided over one or more pivotable rollers (1) swivelling around a rotary point between two stops (11,12). The pivotable roller is so arranged that its axis runs parallel to the direction of rotation of the type carrier, and its free pivot end also points in that direction. The roller (11), by contact with the printing cloth (4), swivels in the direction of the cloth feed as far as one of the stops. In order to compersate a lateral displacement (LS) of the cloth caused by the printing process in the rotary direction of the type carrier, by rotation of the pivot roller a force component is exerted on the printing cloth.

Abstract: Arrangement for a print head having at least one print electrode and being movable relative to a record carrier transported over a support, and pressed down onto the record carrier by the effect of an actuator, where a first frame piece (4) carrying the print electrode (6) supported in a holder (5) is pivotably fixed, via a spring arrangement (2,3) biasing the print head towards the record carrier, to a second frame piece (1) opposite the first frame piece (4), where furthermore an electromagnetic actuator (9, 10) between the two frame pieces is attached to the second frame piece (1) to which a resilient ferromagnetic armature (14) is also fixed and through its greater bias acting against the bias of the spring arrangement (2, 3) abuts against a non-ferromagnetic stop (15) provided at the first frame piece and facing the end of the armature, which thus lifts the print head against the force of the spring arrangement (2, 3), and where by the operation of the actuator (9, 10), the print electrode ( 6) places itself against the record carrier (7) under the force of the spring arrangement (2, 3).

Abstract: Print head for an electroerosion printer, with print electrodes arranged in rows and/or columns in a holder, and with at least one slightly shorter sensor electrode at the trailing edge of the print head to control the feeding of the print electrodes compensating their burning-off and/or abrasion, at least the sensor electrode (7) being inclined approximately in the direction of the median normal to the surface of the unprinted lateral surface of the trough-like depression.

Abstract: 1,261,226. Selective printing. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP. 13 May, 1969 [14 May, 1968], No. 24319/69. Heading B6F. Type elements 3 are attached to an endless band, 1 having teeth on its inner surface by side limbs which engage the sides of the belt and pins (10, Figs. 2, 3) which engage holes or grooves in the teeth on the belt and holes on the side limbs of the type elements. The pins permit the type elements to pivot as they meet a guide 4 so that they are aligned parallel with the back 5 of the guide 4 without tensioning the belt 1. Grooves (11, Fig. 3) in the teeth permit movement of the type elements towards and away from the outer face of the belt.

Abstract: 1,180,959. Selective printing. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP. 13 Dec., 1967 [24 Dec., 1966], No. 56946/67. Heading B6F. [Also in Divisions B8 and F2] Pin feed arrangements; transverse adjustment.-A pin feed assembly for feeding two juxtaposed paper webs 11, 12, Fig. 2, past a row of print hammers 7 includes two pairs of pin feed tractors 8, 9 mounted on a common pair of square shafts 44, 51, each tractor comprising a continuous belt 19, Fig. 3, disposed over two sprocket wheels 15, 16, the sprocket wheel 15 having a square central aperture for keying on to a shaft for rotation therewith and the sprocket wheel 16 having a circular central aperture to permit rotation of the wheel independently of the shaft. The pair of tractors 8, 9 feeding the web 11 have their sprocket wheels 15 keyed to shaft 44, whereas the tractors feeding the web 12 have their sprocket wheels 15 keyed to shaft 51, so that motors 49, 56, controlled by paper tapes 48, 55 and connected to shafts 44, 51 respectively, operate to feed the webs 11, 12 respectively. Two further pairs of pin feed tractors are mounted on shafts 45, 52 linked to the shafts 44, 51 respectively by belts 46, 53. The pin feed tractors are movable along the shafts 44, 51, 45, 52 by threaded spindles 32, 36 which are engaged by threaded ends of jaws 31, Fig. 3, when pivotable paper guide flaps 24 are closed. When a flap 24 is opened, a spring 25 opens the jaws 31 to permit free lateral sliding movement of the tractor.
