    Abstract: An electrical circuit is adapted to receive a plurality of data signals having time coincidence relationship, and is constructed and arranged to produce, as an output, a plurality of similar data signals arranged out of time coincidence in a predetermined manner in accordance with the gap scatter pattern of an associated multiple gap magnetic transducer; the electrical circuit including a plurality of individual circuits, each of which includes a commutating gate, a monostable device having a timing interval which is shorter than the shortest period between transition of the data signal, and a bistable device connected to the output of the monostable device and responsive only to the trailing edge of its output pulse, the output of the bistable device being connected to control the commutating gate and also constituting a time delayed output data signal.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maximize the data storage capacity of a data storage disk while maintaining the relatively linear addressability of an addressable data storage area on the data storage disk. SOLUTION: The data storage disk is provided with an addressable track independent of the length of disk or helical track rotation and provided with the non-integer pieces of addressable tracks and sectors. Plural rotation bands provided in a radial direction are provided with the fixed number of rotations and the increasing number of the addressable tracks in a band on the outer side of the radial direction of the band. The respective bands are divided into plural rotation groups and the respective groups are provided with the fixed number of the rotations. The respective groups of the band are provided with the same number of the addressable tracks. The respective rotation groups start at an anchor sector 115 fixed at a reference circumferential direction position 100 on the disk and the other sectors of the entire groups are positioned in the circumferential direction of the anchor sector.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a data storage device comprising a circular disc (30), a data storage medium on at least one surface of the disc, a spiral track extending within the storage medium about the axis of the disc, and a plurality of data storage sectors formed on the track.     Abstract: Data-storing disks, preferably each disk having a single spiral track, have addressable tracks that are independent of the length of disk or spiral track revolutions. Each revolution may contain a non-integral number of addressable tracks and sectors. An optical disk is used to describe the invention. The circumferential location of the tracks and sectors precess circumferentially. A plurality of radially disposed revolution bands each contain a fixed number of the revolutions an increasing number of the addressable tracks in the radially outer more ones of the bands. It is preferred that the number of bands be 2n, where n is an integer. Each band is divided into a plurality of revolution groups, each group having a fixed number of revolutions. Each group in a band has a like number of the addressable tracks. A so-called anchor sector has one end anchored to a reference circumferential position on the disk. Each revolution group begins with an anchor sector, all other sectors in the group are positioned circumferentially with respect to the anchor sector. Addressable track seeking, alternate embodiments and fabrication of a disk are described.

    Abstract: With high density reel-to-reel tape drives, slight perturbtions in the tape path can cause instantaneous speed variations in the tape which can alter the recording density of data on the tape over a very short interval. This condition can be detected by measuring changes in recording intervals on a plurality of data tracks. Whenever all of the tracks indicate an unacceptable change in the recording interval an unacceptable speed variation has been encountered.
