Abstract: A tunable and resettable shock sensor using a parallel dipole line (PDL) trap system is provided. In one aspect, a shock sensor includes: a PDL trap having a pair of diametric magnets separated from one another by a gap gM, and a diamagnetic rod levitating in between the diametric magnets;and contact pads below the PDL trap, wherein the contact pads are separated from one another by a space that is less than a length l of the diamagnetic rod. A shock monitoring system is also provided that includes a network of the shock sensors, as is a method for shock monitoring using the shock sensors.

Abstract: A rotating magnetic field Hall apparatus is provided and includes first and second magnets disposed in a master-slave configuration, a device-under-test (DUT) stage interposable between the first and second magnets on which a DUT is disposable in first or second orientations for Hall measurement or photoelectromagnetic (PEM) testing, respectively, controllers disposed to center the DUT stage between the first and second magnets and orthogonal magnetic field sensors disposed aside lateral sides of the first magnet to facilitate positional initialization of the first and second magnets and to generate in-phase and out-of-phase reference signals for phase-sensitive or lock-in Hall signal detection. The system also includes software system to perform signal processing to yield the final Hall signal.

Abstract: Parallel dipole line (PDL) trap seismometer and vibration sensors are provided. In one aspect of the invention, a seismometer is provided. The seismometer includes: at least one PDL trap having a pair of dipole line magnets, and a diamagnetic object levitating above the dipole line magnets; and a sensing system (passive or active sensing) for determining a position of the diamagnetic object relative to the dipole line magnets and to yield the seismic signal in terms of displacement or acceleration. Methods for sensing vibrations using the present PDL trap seismometer and vibration sensors are also provided.

Abstract: Techniques for tuning magnetic potential using a variable gap in a parallel dipole line (PDL) trapare provided. In one aspect, a PDL trapis provided. The PDL trap includes: a pair of dipole line magnets separated from one another by a variable gap g; anda diamagnetic object levitating above the dipole line magnets. The dipole line magnets can be separated from one another by at least one spacer, or a variable gap fixture can be used in which the dipole line magnets are affixed to separate mounts for varying the gap gbetween the dipole line magnets. A bigger trap or track can be built with multiple segments of PDL trap. A method of operating a PDL trap is also provided.

Abstract: A plurality of cameras 20 e.g. IP cameras used for surveillance or meteorological observations provide a visual input of a location over a network. A coupling correction is performed between a shaking of the camera with respect to the visual input by subtracting velocity vectors of the plurality of cameras from velocity vectors of pixels defining the visual input to provide a processed input. It is determined whether a shaking identified in the processed input is above a predetermined threshold based on the processed input, thereby detecting one or more anomalies. From the one or more anomalies, at least one of a location, magnitude, or depth of an earthquake are inferred based on the shaking identified in the processed input of each of the plurality of cameras. The intensity of the earthquake may be determined. Shaking may be determined from pixel-wise changes in the processed input, by performing a spectral analysis and determining a spectral decomposition. Parameters of the earthquake may be detected using a trained artificial intelligence model. External seismic data may be used to calibrate the cameras.
