Abstract:
A method for digesting storage of a computing environment is disclosed, in which a unit of storage to be digested is specified via an instruction. Then, the data is digested in the unit of storage.
Abstract:
A method, system and computer program product for computing a message authentication code for data in storage of a computing environment. An instruction specifies a unit of storage for which an authentication code is to be computed. An computing operation computes an authentication code for the unit of storage.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new instruction (long displacement instruction) that augments a computer system architecture and can be emulated. SOLUTION: A machine instruction defined according to a computer architecture comprises an opcode field and is associated with a signed field representing a signed value. The signed field comprises a sign indicator field, a first absolute value field contiguous to one side thereof, and a second absolute value field contiguous to the other side of the sign indicator field. The instruction is executed by a processor in hardware or by software emulation implemented on a computer having a different native instruction set. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
A method, system and computer program product for digesting data in storage of a computing environment. The digesting computes a condensed representation of a message or data stored in the computer storage. A COMPUTE INTERMEDIATE MESSAGE DIGEST (KIMD) and a COMPUTE LAST MESSAGE DIGEST (KLMD) instruction are disclosed which specify a unit of storage to be digested by a secure hashing algorithm.

A method, system and program product for enciphering or deciphering storage of a computing environment by specifying, via an instruction, a unit of storage to be enciphered or deciphered.

Abstract:
Server time protocol (STP) messages and methods of exchange thereof are provided for facilitating synchronization of processing units of a timing network. The STP messages include exchange time parameters (XTP) commands and responses, and STP control (STC) commands and responses. XTP message exchange processing includes: generating an XTP message command at a first processing unit including a command transmit timestamp field set by the first processing unit and a command receive timestamp field which is unset by the first processing unit; transmitting the XTP message command to a second processing unit; setting the command receive timestamp field in the XTP command with the time the XTP command is received at the second processing unit; and generating an XTP message response at the second processing unit, the message response including the command transmit timestamp set by the first processing unit and the command receive timestamp set by the second processing unit.
