    Abstract: In a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) receiver employing channel estimation 10 and the `adaptive QR-decomposition with M' (AQRDM) algorithm 20, complexity is reduced when the number of transmitting antennas is large by grouping constellation sets 40 and dividing the tree search into partial detection phases (PDPs) 50, thus cutting the number of remaining branches at each detection point. Each of the G subsets Ai of constellation set E2 have the same cardinality (number of set elements) and can be grouped continuously (see fig. for 16QAM with G1=4) or dispersively (fig. 2B for 16QAM with G2=4). For each symbol, the minimum accumulated distance per PDP is calculated, and nodes for which this exceeds threshold (fig 3B) are removed in order to simplify the decision process.

    Abstract: A modulation device, a demodulation device and a wireless modem are provided to reduce power consumption during an active mode by disconnecting a driving clock during a standby period. A wireless modem includes a wireless core module(60), a modulator(10), a demodulator(20), a synchronizer(30), and a clock controller(40). The wireless core module transmits and receives wireless signals. The modulator converts data to be transmitted into the wireless signal and delivers the wireless signal to the wireless core module. The demodulator converts the signal from the wireless core module to reception data. The synchronizer adjusts a synchronization of the signal from the wireless core module. The clock controller generates driving clocks for the modulator, demodulator, and the synchronizer.
