Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively support the construction of parallel processing system in a hierarchical structure by providing a connection network with connection extendability without prolonging data transmission delay time. SOLUTION: The same data path is controlled by (n) pieces of cross bar switches 103a-103d and 104a-104d for controlling the transmission of data packet. One low-order cluster is constituted by connecting two cross bar switch connection networks 101, which have eight links 105a-105h and 106a-106h for node connection and two links 105i and 105j for high-order cluster connection, with eight processing nodes 107a-107h at a maximum. One high-order cluster is constituted by connecting eight low-order clusters at a maximum with high-order cross bar connection networks. One next high-order cluster is constituted by connecting eight high-order clusters at a maximum with next high-order cross bar connection networks.
