Abstract:
The DTX status of the Reverse Dedicated Control Channel (DCCH), Reverse Supplemental Channels (SCHs), along with the status of the Erasure Indicator Bit (EIB) is encoded using reverse power control bits transmitted by the mobile system on the Reverse PICH. Particularly, eight reverse secondary power control subchannel bits areredefined to include DTX and EIB information for the various channels.
Abstract:
A method of processing signals received from an electronic device (106, 202) in a cellular network (100, 200) that utilizes variable rate vocoding comprising receiving a first series of low rate frames (318) at the cellular network; receiving a high rate frame (320) that has at least one bit error at the cellular network after receiving the first series of low rate frames, wherein the rate of the high rate frame can be determined; and making a full rate step up in an Outer Loop Thereshold (118) in response to receiving the high rate frame.
Abstract:
During operation a device (101) will utilize a wireless local-area network (206) when within the coverage area of the wireless local-area network, and will utilize wide-area network (207) when outside of the coverage area of the wireless local-area network. The device will also utilize both the local and wide-area networks for soft handoff purposes when both systems are available for communication.
