Abstract: A method to manufacture a foam material from recycled PET in the form of flakes is disclosed. This method comprises a crystallization and drying step to produce a recycled PET with a degree of crystallization between 10 and 40% and a residual humidity below 400 ppm; a subsequent mixing step in which the recycled PET obtained from the crystallization and drying step is first added and mixed with a viscosizing additive and with a foaming agent, and then filtered; and a foaming step in which the recycled PET obtained from the mixing step is cooled and expanded.

Abstract: A process for the production by extrusion of a film based on thermoplastic material and comprising a mixing step, wherein recycled PET material is mixed with an additive to obtain a thermoplastic material to be extruded; an extrusion step, wherein the thermoplastic material undergoes extrusion at a temperature lower than 300°C; a recovery and cooling step, wherein a film coming out of the extruder is recovered and cooled. The additive is pyromellitic dianhydride and it is added in a quantity ranging from 0.002% to 0.150% by weight with respect to the total weight of the thermoplastic material to be extruded. The film coming out of the extruder has an intrinsic viscosity lower than the recycled PET material.
