A system (10), method, and program for optimizing a wireless network (14) having at least data communication between computer devices (12, 18, 20, 22) selectively connected thereto, and at least one of the computer devices (12, 18, 20, 22) is a remotely located wireless device. The wireless device (12, 18, 20, 22) has a resident network optimization application that causes the selective transmission of network status data to at least one other computer device on the wireless network (14), and either the data-receiving computer device (12, 18, 22, 22) or another computer device (12, 18, 20, 22) on the wireless network (14) optimizes the wireless network (14) based upon the received network status data.
Abstract:
In an embodiment, an access terminal sends a request for a level of Quality of Service (QoS) resources to an access network, the QoS resource request associated with a call attempt by the access terminal. The access terminal proceeds with call set-up for the call attempt irrespective of whether the access network grants the QoS resource request. Alternatively, the access terminal waits for an extended period of time before the call attempt is permitted to fail. In a further example, in the event of call failure, the access terminal can refrain from informing a user thereof of the call failure. In another embodiment, the access network can respond to the QoS resource request with an allocation of a lower level QoS resources than requested if the requested QoS resources are not available. The access terminal can likewise be permitted to participate in the call with the lower level QoS resources.

A method and system for tracking exercise and personal security includes providing hardware for a portable computing device that allows the device to be worn on a person. The method includes receiving a selection of an exercise option with the portable computing device and receiving a selection of an automated alert option for personal security with the portable computing device while a person trains or competes. The portable computing device that is worn may display one or more biological outputs on a display and it may provide a user interface which has one or more selectable instant alert options. The user interface may also support two-way audio communications.

A system, method, and computer program for providing an application catalog of served applications and data to wireless devices on a wireless network seeking to download the applications and/or data. The application catalog is displayable to a wireless device across the wireless network, and the application catalog lists at least a plurality of applications and/or data downloadable to wireless devices and the application catalog is optimized based upon predetermined criteria such that the preferred application and/or data to be downloaded by a wireless device is initially displayed to a wireless device attempting to access the application catalog.
