Abstract: A square-shape closed battery comprising a battery jar holding a generating element therein, and a cover for closing an opening of the battery jar, an opened end portion of the jar and the cover being welded together, the wall thickness of a trunk portion of the jar being smaller than that of the opened end portion thereof, the cover being provided at an outer circumferential edge portion with a stepped flange, the opened end portion of the jar being fitted in the cover with the opened end portion contacting an outer circumferential surface of a projecting section, which is formed of the stepped portion, of the cover, the opened end portion being rammed against the flange and welded thereto, the welding of the cover and the opened end portion of the jar being done from the side of side surfaces thereof.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a battery from being ruptured by overcharging the battery or a short circuit current and improve safety and productivity by inserting a battery cover having a terminal section into a battery can, injecting an electrolyte into the battery can from an electrolyte injection hole bored on the terminal section, and sealing the electrolyte injection hole with a foil to be cleaved when the internal pressure rises. SOLUTION: A gasket 10 is inserted into the center opening section of a battery cover 9, a terminal 8 is caulked to deform the gasket 10, and a terminal structure is formed. A positive electrode lead 7 is welded to the bottom section of the terminal 8 so that the terminal 8 serves as the counter electrode with a battery can 6. The assembled battery cover 9 is inserted into the battery can 6, the outer periphery is laser-welded, and an electrolyte is injected into the battery can 6 from an electrolyte injection hole. The gasket 10 and a foil 13 are mounted on the terminal 8, and a cover 14 is put on and caulked to integrate the terminal 8 and foil 13. An aluminum foil is used for the foil 13, for example, it is cleaved to release the internal pressure when the internal pressure rises, and it can prevent the breakage of a battery.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize an electric device for supplying battery voltage. SOLUTION: A flat winding electrode body 25 having a positive electrode 21 and a negative electrode 22 is accommodated in an armor can 32 having an appearance of a rectangle wherein widths of side surfaces 30A and 30B adjacently provided are different. A non-aqueous electrolyte as a medium of ionic conduction between the positive electrode 21 and the negative electrode 22 is injected through an injection hole 44 which is provided on an outer peripheral part of the wider side surface 30A which is deformed to expand so that a central part rises highest in an ordinary using condition. The injection hole 44 is sealed by a sealing member 41. Thus, the sealing member 41 is disposed on the wider side surface 30A of the armor can 32 so that the sealing member 41 is prevented from projecting outward than the rising of the central part. It is possible to provide a space for accommodating the battery in the electric device for supplying battery voltage in accordance with a shape of the armor can 32. Thus, the electric device for supplying battery voltage can be miniaturized.
