    Abstract: A process for the preparation of a coating, coated substrate, film or sheet, in which process a coating mixture comprising a reactive system of polyisocyanate-functional, a polyketone-functional, a polyepoxide-functional, a polyanhydride-functional and/or a poly carbonate-functional compound or polymer and a dispersion or fine powder of a compound containing a reactive hydrogen, which mixture is not or low reactive at room temperature, is applied onto a substrate, resulting in a substrate coated with the coating mixture, followed by reacting the compounds mentioned above by elevating the temperature, in a substrate coated with the coating mixture, followed by reacting the compounds mentioned above by elevating the temperature, in which the reaction temperature and consequently the reaction rate can be adjusted as desired by the addition of an additive to the coating mixture, or to one of the reactants of the coating mixture, prior to the mixing with the other component. According to the invention optionally a second reactive system is present and both systems are essentially reacted as a sequential two step reaction and between these reaction steps the coating is remoulded. The invention further comprises a product obtained by the process.

    Abstract: La presente invencion se refiere a un proceso para la preparacion de policarbodiimidas que tambien contienen funciones de aziridina y que no son genotoxicas. Estas policarbodiimidas con funciones de aziridina pueden usarse como agentes reticulantes. En particular, se refiere a un proceso para la preparacion de policarbodiimidas con funcion aziridina caracterizado porque comprende las etapas de: i) la reaccion de poliisocianatos o de una mezcla de monoisocianatos y poliisocianatos a 80 - 200 °C en presencia de un porcentaje en peso de 0,02 - 5 de un catalizador de carbodiimida, en la que se forma una policarbodiimida funcional al isocianato, opcionalmente en mezcla con una policarbodiimida, con un valor medio de 1 - 10 funciones de carbodiimida; y ii) terminacion y/o extension en cadena de la cadena de policarbodiimida funcional al isocianato, durante o despues de la formacion de la cadena de policarbodiimida, mediante la adicion de un equivalente de 0,05 a 0,95 equivalentes, con respecto a las funciones de isocianato que no se consumen en la formacion de la cadena de policarbodiimida, con un primer compuesto que contenga un grupo hidrofilo y una o multiples funciones amina y/o hidroxilo, junto con, antes de, o seguido de la reaccion de las funciones de isocianato restantes con uno o multiples segundos compuestos que contengan una o multiples funciones amina y/o hidroxilo.

    Abstract: A process for the preparation of stable aqueous polycarbodiimide dispersions to be used as cross-linking agents, in which initially an isocyanate functional polycarbodiimide is prepared from a polyisocyanate and a mono- or polyisocyanate which contains a hydrophobic group. Thereafter the polycarbodiimide chain is capped and/or extended by reaction of the isocyanate functions or a part thereof with a hydrophilic amine- or hydroxy functional compound and of the remaining isocyanate functions with an amine- or hydroxy functional compound which contains hydrophobic groups, after which the obtained product is dispersed in water and the pH is adjusted to 9-14. The hydrophobic groups are hydrocarbons with 4-25 carbon atoms, fluorinated hydrocarbons, silicone functional hydrocarbons or polysilicones. Further, the invention relates to a coating mixture in which the polycarbodiimide dispersion is used as cross-linking agent and to the cured material obtained with the coating mixture.
