Abstract: PURPOSE:To hold a cell constant to a constant value regardless of the temp. of a specimen solution and to make measuring work accurate, by concentrically arranging an inside electrode layer and an outside electrode layer in a pressure resistant container at a predetermined interval. CONSTITUTION:An inner electrode 15 and an outer electrode 16 are arranged concentrically in a pressure resistant container 10 at a predetermined interval, and an inside electrode layer 17 and an outside electrode layer 18 are formed to the outer surface of the inner electrode 15 and the inner surface of the outer electrode 16 respectively both of which are opposed to each other. The high temp. and high pressure specimen solution such as primary cooling water introduced into the pressure resistant container from an inflow port 12 flows through the gap between the inside electrode layer 17 and the outside electrode layer 18 and, during this time, the electric resistance between the electrodes is measured. In this case, since the inside and outside electrode layers 17, 18 are formed on the inner surface of the inner electrode and the outer surface of the outer electrode opposed to each other, the relative change ratio of the interval between the electrode layers by thermal expansion is low and a cell constant becomes the value almost equal to the cell constant at the time of inspection at ambient temp. and the conductivity of the specimen solution can be measured safely and accurately.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a pH-measuring electrode with a metal oxide for enabling pH to be measured accurately without being affected by a coexisting substance as a pH-sensitive film. CONSTITUTION:An electrode-sensitive portion 24 consisting of a sensitive film support 21 in a specified shape and dimensions. a metal oxide film 22 which is formed on one surface of this sensitive film support for example by sputtering, and a porous insulation film 23 which is clad on an entire surface of this metal oxide film 22 by sputtering in a similar manner is fitted into a penetration hole which is formed on a bottom surface of a cylindrical support pipe 25 in a liquid-concentration state. The metal oxide film 22 which becomes a pH- sensitive film is positioned outside the support pipe 25 where its nearly half contacts a liquid whose pH is to be measured (a liquid to be measured). The porous insulation film 23 covering the metal oxide film 22 eliminates an interference substance and protects the pH-sensitive film.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the diffusion of a comparison liquid into water to be tested and to achieve the simplification of maintenance and control and the stabilization of measurement by providing a reverse osmosis membrane so as to demarcate the comparison liquid in a comparison liquid storage part and the water to be tested flowing through a water flow path part. CONSTITUTION:Between the water flow path part 2 and comparison liquid storage part 3 in a measuring cell 1, the communication hole 9 allowing both parts to communicate each other is formed on the downstream side of the flow of water 11 to be tested from the responsive part of a glass electrode 6 and the water 11 to be tested in the water flow path part 2 and the comparison liquid 7 in the comparison liquid storage part 3 are demarcated by the reverse osmosis membrane 10 provided so as to close the communication hole 9. By allowing the comparison liquid 7 and the water 11 to be tested to communicate with each other through the reverse osmosis membrane 10 as mentioned above, the diffusion of the comparison liquid into the water 11 to be tested is reduced and the contamination of the responsive part of an acting electrode with the diffused comparison liquid is reduced and, therefore, maintenance and control become simple and the reverse osmosis membrane 10 is allowed to approach the responsive part of the acting electrode to suppress the variation of drift potential to make it possible to perform stable measurement.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an electrode which has an improved chemical resistance with a small amount and enables a stable measurement to be made by providing an insulation support and a iridium oxide sensitive film which is formed on the support and by specifying a ratio of oxygen for the sensitive iridium. CONSTITUTION:An iridium oxide sensitive film 2 is provided on a surface of an insulation support 1 and a lead wire 3 is taken out of one edge of the sensitive film 2. The lead wire 3 as well as the sensitive film 2 at one edge side and one portion of the support 1 are covered with a support pipe 4 consisting of plastic such as polyvinyl chloride and are fixed, thus forming an electrode for measuring pH. The sensitive film 2 is iridium oxide with a ratio of oxygen to iridium being 2.5-3.5. By using this iridium oxide sensitive film 2, an improved linear response within a range of pH 0-14 can be obtained and further the response is fast and is stable over a long period. Also. it is desirable that the sensitive film 2 is as thick as 400-100,000 Angstrom and the response speed becomes slow outside this range, thus causing drift to occur and stability to deteriorate.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a pH measuring electrode which uses iridium oxide as a pH sensitive film, is constructed small and sturdily, easy to manufacture, presents easiness in working, excels in the resistance against chemicals, has a wide pH range measurable, and which can measure not only liquid but also the surface or inside of a solid matter and also can make measurement stably for a long period of time. CONSTITUTION: The pH measuring electrode 1 includes an insulative supporting member 42 in a thin and long shape and a pH sensitive part 2 fixed to one end of the supporting member 42 in contact with an object to be measured while exposing only its end plane part substantially to the outside. The part 2 has a rod 28 of insulative ceramic whose one end 28a is shaped in to a plane, and the surface of the rod 28 is subjected to a specular finish so that at least the surface roughness is Rmax 0.02 and Ra 0.002, and thereover, an iridium oxide film 22 is formed whose iridium-oxygen proportion ranges 1:2.5 to 1:3.5, and further a porous insulative film 23 is formed covering at least a part of the peripheral circumferential surface and the end plane where the iridium oxide film 22, is provided.
