Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform quantitative assay accurately and quickly by containing the part including the detecting zone of an assay unit in a containing means and providing a detection zone on a passage between an intensity sensor for uniform diffusion electromagnetic radiation and a radiation source. SOLUTION: An assay strip 101 is contained between the upper and lower parts 200, 201 of a casing such that a water absorbing sample containing member 202 can elongate outward from one end 203. The upper and lower parts 200, 201 are provided, respectively, with openings 205, 209 and recesses 207, 210. A protrusion 305 in a slot 301 facing a light source 303 is fitted in the recess 207 and positioned in place. A plurality of LEDs 306 of the light source 303 irradiate the assay strip 101 through a diffuser 307 and the opening 209 and the light reaches to a plate 309 through the opening 205 and a diffuser 308. The plate 309 is provided with openings 310-314 corresponding to the detection line on the assay strip 101 and a photodetector 321 is provided at the distal end of each opening 310-314. This structure realizes a test strip reader which can be used easily even in a home.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To monitor an ovulocycle while avoiding the requirement for frequently conducting tests over the whole ovulocycle by providing multiple throwaway test devices each giving readable signals indicating the concentrations of at least two analytes in a significant humor regarding the pregnancy feasible state of the ovulocycle. SOLUTION: The readable signals of a monitoring device are generated by concentrating a detectable first material, preferably a marker reagent, in the first detection zone of a porous carrier, and concentrating a detectable second material, preferably a marker reagent, in the second detection zone of a porous carrier located on the downstream side of a first test zone while flowing in a porous carrier such as test strips in test devices. The first detection zone signal indicates the humor concentration of a first analyte showing the significant concentration change closely related to the actual ovulation time, and the second detection zone signal indicates the humor concentration of a second analyte or estrodiol showing the significant concentration change before the pregnancy feasible phase of an ovulocycle.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide reliable data on contraception preventing necessity to implement tests frequently (e.g. everyday) during each ovulation cycle. SOLUTION: This method is to monitor the current ovulation cycle of each female subject. The method includes repeated testing of the humor concentration of at least one analytic material significant on the condition of the ovulation cycle such as urine E3G at least during the pre-ovulation period of the current ovulation cycle of each subject. The test of the concentration of the analytic material during the current ovulation cycle shall be started on a day at least two days before the earliest day of the actual ovulation during one or plural previous ovulation cycles of each subject several days (preferably at least five days) after the start of the menstruation of the subject.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method, a novel apparatus and a novel test kit for monitoring particularly a human ovulation cycle. SOLUTION: This is a method for monitoring a state of the present ovulation cycle of individual female examinees of mammals (generally human), which includes repeated inspection during at least a first half of the present ovulation cycle of the examinee for a concentration of at least one analysis substance, preferably, estrone-3-glucuronide(E3G) in a humor which is important in relation to the state of the ovulation cycle. The concentration inspection of the analysis substance in the present ovulation cycle is carried out at least once from a first day to a seventh day after the start of a menstrual period, and a reference concentration value of the analysis substance in the present cycle is determined. The inspection is repeated preferably for some days from at least five days prior to an average day of days when the examinee actually ovulates in one or more ovulation cycles before. A concentration value of the analysis substance obtained in the repeated inspections is compared with the reference concentration value, thereby determining whether a concentration change indicating that the ovulation is coming is taking place or took place after a previous inspection. The method can be based only on the E3G measurement.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for monitoring the state of a current ovulation cycle of each human female object person. SOLUTION: A test on the concentration of a fluid of at least one substance to be analyzed such as urine E3G(estorone-3-glucuronide) etc., significant concerning the state of an ovulation cycle, comprising testing the above-mentioned fluid concentration repeatedly in at least the former ovulation time of the current ovulation period of each object person, is begun from at least two days before the earliest day when ovulation really took place in a former one or a plurality of ovulation cycles of the same object person, several days (favorably at least five days) after the start of a menses.
