Abstract:
A flat type feeder cable useful for transmitting electrical energy from a stationary source to a moving apparatus, which has a plurality of spaced apart strength members each with their respective axes arranged in a line and in substantially coplanar relationship with one another; a plurality of strand members stranded together about each of the strength members to form a core, the strand members themselves being composed of a plurality of electrical conductors circumscribed by a sheath, and are "S-Z" stranded so that they contain first and second alternatingly repeating substantially equal first and second sections, each of said first sections having a common direction and degree of lay and each of said second sections also having a common direction and degree of lay substantially equal opposite to that of the first sections, and, a jacket of flexible material circumscribing the core members.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method of SZ stranding into one strand a bundle of two or more flexible micromodules, each micromodule comprising one or more optical fibers. A first pulley is located with its winding surface adjacent to a longitudinal axis of a cabling line. The bundle of micromodules is guided over the winding surface of the first pulley, the first pulley being rotating around the longitudinal axis of the cabling line. The rotational speed, or the rotational direction of the first pulley, is alternating.
Abstract:
A method of producing twine composed of a plurality of thermoplastic mono filaments in a bundle which comprises, passing a bundle of thermoplastic monofilaments continuously along a path, imparting a false twist of 3 to 30 turns per linear foot to said bundle, applying a compatible molten thermoplastic spiral band to said twisted bundle as a spiral band to fuse said spiral band to the outer monofilaments, and recovering a twine having a portion of said false twist captured therein by fusion of the spiral band thereon. The apparatus for obtaining this twine consists of a path along which a bundle of thermoplastic synthetic monofilaments having a false twist therein can be continuously moved, means to direct a molten compatible thermoplastic on to said twisted bundle to form one or more spiral bands on said bundle and to fuse the outer monofilaments of the bundle to the spiral band, and means for imparting a false twist to said bundle at a point prior to said directing means.By this process and apparatus, some of the false twist may be captured by the fusion of the spiral band on to the twisted monofilament bundle, producing a better overall twine for use in automatic hay balers compared to twine made without twisting.

Abstract:
A twine comprised of a core bundle of synthetic monofilaments (4) twisted along the length of the twine and a synthetic binder material (18) in thin band form spirally wound about the monofilaments in a direction opposite to the core bundle twist. A method of producing such twine comprises, passing a bundle of thermoplastic monofilaments (4) continuously along a path, imparting a false twist of 3 to 30 turns per linear foot to said bundle, applying a compatible molten thermop- lasticspiral band (18) to said twisted bundle as a spiral band to fuse said spiral band to the outer monofilaments (16), and recovering a twine having a portion of said false twist captured therein by fusion of the spiral band thereon. The apparatus for obtaining this twine consists of a path along which a bundle (4) of thermoplastic synthetic monofilaments having a false twist therein can be continuously moved, means (5) to direct a molten compatible thermoplastic onto said twisted bundle to form one or more spiral bands (18) on said bundle and to fuse the outer monofilaments (16) of the bundle to the spiral band (18) and means (8) for imparting a false twist to said bundle at a point prior to said directing means.
