Abstract: Die Erfindung betrifft eine duale Messvorrichtung (1) zur Bestimmung der Beschaffenheit eines Gases. Die duale Messvorrichtung (1) weist einen optischen Gassensor mit einer spiralförmigen (helikalen) Kapillare (21) mit einem Hohlraum (21.2) auf, in den sowohl das Messgas als auch eine elektromagnetische Strahlung eingekoppelt werden. Die Detektion einer Gaskomponente erfolgt über die Erfassung der Absorption. Die duale Messvorrichtung (1) verfügt ferner über einen Temperatursensor (28) zur sowohl örtlich übereinstimmenden als auch zeitlich gleichzeitig stattfinden Messung der Temperatur des Gases. Die duale Messvorrichtung (1) ist insbesondere für den Einsatz im Abgastrakt oder im Innenraum von Fahrzeugen geeignet.

Abstract: LIBS measurement systems are disclosed that are configured to monitor a temperature of a molten metal sample (10) during cooling of the molten metal sample in a crucible (20), and to initiate a LIBS measurement after the temperature of the molten metal sample satisfies measurement temperature criteria. The system may also monitor the temperature of an empty crucible to assist in ensuring that the crucible temperature is (i) sufficiently high to ensure that after the molten metal sample is delivered to the crucible and cools to satisfy the measurement temperature criteria, a sufficiently low cooling rate of the molten metal sample occurs during the LIBS measurement, and (ii) optionally sufficiently low to avoid an unnecessarily long cooling time of the molten metal sample prior to satisfying the measurement temperature criteria and initiation of the LIBS measurement. The LIBS measurement system may be mobile and battery-powered, and may include an integrated calibration station (500).

Abstract: The present invention finds its application, in general, in the agricultural sector. In particular, the solution concerns a transportable sensor device, which is essential for optimizing and automating the treatment processes that must be carried out on fruit plants in general. Ultimately, the sensor device according to the teachings of the invention can be used to acquire a two-dimensional map of a row of plants, without going through the acquisition of an image in the visible field which would involve the use of optical sensors, whose use presents various problems; instead reconstructing equivalent images (i.e., maps describing a row of plants seen from its side) which are very significant from the point of view of their information content. In fact, such equivalent images acquired by the device indicated in the invention do not require to be reprocessed through recognition programs, but directly contain the information that is needed in many types of applications. The invention is based on an innovative use of infrared radiation active sensor technology, which however requires the design and implementation of a new type of sensor device, built with specific new features, such as the use of very directive radiation, in narrowband and on a plurality of carriers. Furthermore, also the geometric structure, and the shape, of the sensor device itself must have some particular features, which make it suitable for performing a sort of scanning of entire rows of plants; everything in a simple way and without the need to resort to complex handling mechanisms.
