Abstract:
A real time thermal monitoring and prediction system (TMPS) is provided for use in monitoring and operating a transformer. The TMPS may be used to estimate a maximum loading level for the transformer over a future time period using a dynamic thermal model for the transformer and ambient temperature forecasts. The transformer may be loaded to its maximum loading level during power congestion or a service restoration process.
Abstract:
DC-DC converter systems are disclosed. DC-DC converter systems may include an input, an output, a resonant switched-capacitor DC-DC converter, and a second DC-DC converter. The resonant switched-capacitor DC-DC converter may include a first input side and a first output side. The second DC-DC converter may include a second input side and a second output side. The first input side may be connected to the input, the second input side may be connected to an input voltage, and the first and second output sides may be connected in series to the output. In some examples, the second DC-DC converter may be a buck-boost DC-DC converter.
Abstract:
When a fossil fuel well is producing fossil fuel, lift gas injected into the well to bring the naturally occurring fluids in the well to the surface along with the fossil fuel and the plunger if the well has a plunger. An instrument is programmed to use the predetermined criteria to dynamically control the rate of injection of the lift gas into the well.
Abstract:
A systematic approach is presented for the development and implementation of cost-effective transmission asset maintenance strategies. The overall concept and methodology are based on transmission reliability and risk management and address the value of preventive maintenance activities. This may help electric network utilities conduct maintenance policy assessment, region-wide criticality analysis, and optimal maintenance resource allocation and task scheduling.
Abstract:
A presently-preferred process for bending a workpiece comprises placing a first portion of the workpiece on a substantially flat surface so that a second portion of the workpiece overhangs an edge of the substantially flat surface, and securing the first portion of the workpiece on the substantially flat surface by clamping the workpiece between the substantially flat surface and a substantially v-shaped end portion of a male die. The presently-preferred process also comprises causing the second portion of the workpiece to pivot around a tip of the substantially v-shaped end portion by rotating a bending die around the tip while the bending die contacts the second portion of the workpiece.
Abstract:
A flow sensor for an analytical instrument. The flow sensor can be used to detect the flow of a fluid such as purge gas in the instrument. The sensor can measure the fluid flow at an opening of the instrument enclosure. The sensor has first and second differential pressure switches connected in series. The sensor has a sealed chamber which is in the opening. Bordering the sealed chamber are first and second restrictors through which the fluid can flow. A sensing tube transfers the pressure in the sealed chamber to the first and second switches.
Abstract:
Routing software in an asset management server for a network of an enterprise. The enterprise has one or more assets and two or more data sources and each source has a unique name for each asset. The server determines from an incoming message from the data sources about the assets which of the other data sources needs to receive the message and the unique name for the asset used by those sources. The routing software prepares the outgoing message to the sources and transmits the message to those sources.
Abstract:
A rotor assembly system includes a central robotic system, which itself includes a conveyor platform and a multi-axial central robot arranged on the conveyor platform. The multi-axial central robot is configured to perform a set of manufacturing processes from among a plurality of rotor manufacturing processes related to at least one rotor component. The conveyor platform is operable to move the multi-axial central robot within the manufacturing cell to transfer the at least one rotor component between one or more rotor manufacturing processes from among the plurality of rotor manufacturing processes.
Abstract:
A method of processing raw measurement data from a tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS) tool or other spectroscopic instrument is provided that determines what types of noise (electronic or process flow) are present in the measurement. Based on that determination, the noise is reduced by performing a weighted averaging using weights selected according to the dominant type of noise present, or a general case is applied to determine weights where neither noise type is dominant. The method also involves performing continuous spectroscopy measurements with the tool, with the data and weighted averaging being constantly updated. Weighting coefficients may also be adjusted based on similarity or difference between time-adjacent traces.
Abstract:
Unique systems, methods, techniques and apparatuses of a substation phasor data concentrator (ssPDC) is disclosed herein. One exemplary embodiment is a method for operating an electrical substation including a merging unit (MU), a phasor measurement unit (PMU), and a substation phasor data concentrator (ssPDC). The method includes receiving, with the MU and the PMU, input information corresponding to a set of electrical characteristics of the electrical substation; measuring, with the MU, the input information; measuring, with the PMU, the input information; a and estimating, with the ssPDC, electrical characteristics of the electrical substation using the received false measurement and the one of the MU measurement and the PMU measurement, determining in substantially real time the false measurement does not correspond to the set of electrical characteristics using the estimated electric characteristics, and replacing the false measurement with the received the one of the MU measurement and the PMU measurement.
