Abstract:
The present invention relates to an arrangement for treatment of articles by hot pressing and preferably by hot isostatic pressing. In particular, the present invention relates to such an arrangement capable of obtaining a rapid rate without the need of special purpose valves for the cooling. A furnace chamber is provided inside the pressure vessel of the arrangement and a heat insulated casing arranged to surround the furnace chamber. A bottom insulating portion is arranged beneath the furnace chamber. Further, a fan having a controllable number of revolutions for circulating the pressure medium within the furnace chamber is arranged in the pressure vessel, and preferable within the furnace chamber. At least one feeding passage is arranged to allow feeding of pressure medium from a region being colder than a region within the furnace chamber towards an inlet of the fan, wherein an amount of pressure medium being fed to the inlet of the fan can be controlled by adjusting operational parameters of the fan.
Abstract:
A high-pressure pressing arrangement comprises: two coaxial end closures (6); a high-pressure cylinder having two coaxial end openings, which are closable by the end closures; a frame for resisting outward axial movement of the end closures; a load basket (2) for carrying articles to be treated, wherein the high-pressure cylinder and the frame are arranged transversally movable relative to each other between an operating position and a loading/unloading position; wherein, in the operating position, the end closures are positioned to cover the end apertures and, in the loading/unloading position, at least one of the end closures is positioned to uncover at least one end aperture. Further, a first locking element (21 ) is provided on an end closure and a second locking element (13) is provided on an outward end surface of the load basket, so as to mate with the first element to prevent rotation of the load basket.
Abstract:
A high-pressure press is disclosed which includes a high-pressure vessel enclosing a high-pressure chamber and a high-pressure medium; a housing, separating a volume from the high-pressure press chamber, arranged for holding a fluid; a fan arranged in the high-pressure press chamber outside the housing for circulating the high pressure medium in the high-pressure press chamber; a motor, arranged in the housing and operatively connected to the fan for driving the fan; a cooling device for cooling a portion of the housing wall; and a pumping device arranged for circulating the fluid, the fluid providing a transfer of cold from the portion of the housing wall to the motor, the cooled circulation of the fluid being separated from the high-pressure press chamber by the housing.
Abstract:
In an aspect of the invention, there is provided a hot isostatic pressing arrangement for treatment of articles by hot isostatic pressing. The arrangement comprises a pressure vessel (1) including a furnace chamber (18) comprising a heat insulated casing (3) and a furnace (36) for heating of a pressure medium during pressing, and a 'heat exchanger unit' (33) or heat absorbing material located below said furnace chamber (18). In another aspect of the invention, there is provided a method for treatment of articles in a hot isostatic press. The press further comprises a pressure vessel enclosing a furnace chamber and a 'heat exchanger unit'. The method comprises the steps of loading the articles into the furnace chamber, performing pressurized and heated treatment of the articles, cooling the articles and unloading of the articles. All said steps are performed while the 'heat exchanger unit' remains located inside the pressure vessel. Heat is transferred to and from the 'heat exchanger unit' at different portions of the hot isostatic pressing cycle.
Abstract:
A method for the treatment of metal articles by hot isostatic pressing, wherein air is used as the pressure medium for the hot isostatic pressing.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a press of pressure cell type and a tray for use in a press of pressure cell type. The tray whic h defines a space for arranging a forming tool and/or a workpiece has prestressing means arranged on the external surface of the tray. The prestressing means induce a compressing prestress which acts in planes parallel to the plane of the tray.
Abstract:
There is provided an arrangement and a method for handling a load for isostatic pressure treatment in a high-pressure arrangement. The arrangement includes a transportation unit including at least one track for transporting the load into a treatment position for isostatic pressure treatment of the load from a working space outside the high-pressure arrangement. Furthermore, the transportation unit is further arranged for transporting the load from the treatment position to the working space after pressure treatment of the load. The arrangement further includes a partition plane arranged at least partially above the high-pressure arrangement, wherein the working space is provided above the partition plane. The partition plane is arranged to shield the working space from the high-pressure arrangement in the event of a gas leakage of the high-pressure arrangement.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an arrangement for treatment of articles by hot pressing and in particular by hot isostatic pressing. The pressing arrangement includes a pressure vessel and a furnace chamber adapted to hold articles, which furnace chamber is provided inside the pressure vessel. At least one guiding passage communicating with the furnace chamber forms an outer cooling loop, wherein the pressure medium in a part of the outer cooling loop is guided in proximity to pressure vessel walls and the top end closure before it re-enters into the furnace chamber. Further, a guiding channel element is located in the at least one guiding passage forming the outer cooling loop is arranged with at least one pressure medium channel for guiding the pressure medium from a central opening of the heat insulated casing radially and circumferentially towards a lateral wall of the pressure cylinder. The at least one pressure medium channel has a substantially constant cross-sectional area in a flow direction of the pressure medium.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an arrangement for treatment of articles by hot pressing. The pressing arrangement for treatment of articles by hot pressing comprises a pressure vessel including: a furnace chamber comprising a heat insulated casing and a furnace adapted to hold the articles. A heat exchanger unit is arranged below said furnace chamber and adapted to exchange thermal energy with pressure medium when the pressure medium is passing through said heat exchanger unit. According to the present invention, at least one first and second inlet or aperture, respectively, for passage of alternating warm and cold pressure medium are arranged in the heat insulated casing in proximity to the heat exchanger unit (i.e. at approximately same the height as, above or below the heat exchanger unit). The at least one second inlet (or lower inlet) is below the at least one first inlet (or upper inlet) but at same height as or below the heat exchanger unit.
