Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an improved transmission power estimate in a radio network controller (RNC) used for a multiuser slot communication system. SOLUTION: A model for noise rise used for an allocated resource in a multiuser slot communication system is provided. For a selected user an interference measure, a path loss, and a desired signal to interference ratio (SIR) are determined. A noise rise for the selected user is determined using the determined interference measure, path loss, desired signal to SIR and the noise rise model. The selected user transmission power level is estimated using the determined noise rise. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method having better resource utilization for MBMS. SOLUTION: A radio access network and a method are disclosed for sending multimedia broadcasts/multicast services (MBMS) using channel switching. The channel switching is between dedicated and shared/common channels. The network and the method include MBMS reception scheduling for use when a wireless transmit/receive device receives an MBMS service from multiple transmission sources. The sources transmitting the MBMS service data in differing orders. One embodiment uses in-band segmentation information and another embodiment uses out-of-band synchronization information. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide point to multi-point services, to which flexibility is added for handling a plurality of reception points, when multiple transmissions are made over a downlink-shared channel, using valuable radio resources. SOLUTION: Service data are transmitted in a wireless communication system. An indicator is synchronously transmitted for reception of a user group in a cell of a system (80). The user group does not include all of the users of the cell. Each of the user groups receives a service indicator. Each of the user groups monitors a service ID, transmitted over a downlink-shared channel (82). The service data are transmitted over the downlink-shared channel with the service ID (84). Each of the user groups detects the service ID and receives the service data of a downlink-shared channel (86). COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convert an input signal from analog to digital comprehensivelywith high resolution. SOLUTION: An ADGC device 30 which avoids some of the requirements associated with the property of a closed-loop AGC circuit and which meets the remaining requirements without much difficulty. The ADGC device 30 uses an analog to digital conversion method that increases the number of effective bit number of ADC by compressing the baseband input analog signal using a logarithmic circuit 34. After the compressed analog signal is converted into a digital signal, a digital anti-log processing or look-up table LUT42 is used to expand the digital signal back to the original linear scale. The word size of the output of the anti-log processing is larger than the input word size due to the nature of the anti-log function. To reduce the word size of the digital signal an open loop normalization technique can be applied. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure CQ in a proper timing, and arbitrarily transmit the information to a base station. SOLUTION: In a wireless digital communication system which may employ CDMA technology, a method and system for obtaining CQ (channel quality) measurement for downlink resource allocation, a UE (user equipment) 12 continuously measures RSCP based on a communication on a reference channel provided by the network. The UE 12 continuously measures timeslot ISCP either by configuration or by rotation, and reports downlink CQ. The UE 12 may report the RSCP once and the ISCP per timeslot, or may report some function of RSCP/ISCP ratio such as modulation parameters, or combined coding of all timeslots.
