The present invention relates to cinnamic acid dimers, their preparation and the use thereof for treating neurodegenerative disease, which have excellent effect on enhancing the learning and memory-retention ability in vivo and have fewer side-effects by showing no hormone properties, even when administered for a long period of time, and thus which can be used for neurodegenerative disease including dementia.

A method of manufacturing reaction-bonded silicon carbide is disclosed , which comprises; preparing a silicon providing body including silicon powder and a binder; preparing a compact body of silicon carbide and carbon; keeping the silicon providing body contacting the compact body; and heating the contacted bodies at temperature higher than the melting point of silicon in vacuum or inert atmosphere so that fused silicon in the silicon providing body can be infiltrated into the compact body.

The present invention relates to a biological denitrification apparatus and a denitrification method using a fluidized-bed reactor filled with elemental sulfur. The apparatus comprises: a reactor filled with elemental sulfur and limestone therein; an inlet port at a lower portion of the reactor for introducing the wastewater to flow from the lower portion to an upper portion of the reactor; a treated water sedimentation basin over the reactor for collecting the introduced water after passing through the reactor; a treated water recycle line between the treated water sedimentation basin and the inlet port of the reactor for recycling the treated water from the treated water sedimentation basin to the inlet port of the reactor; a pump mounted to an end of the treated water recycle line for increasing the flow rate of the recycled water; and a T-shaped precipitator at one end of the recycle line for precipitating suspended solids such as microbes contained in the treated water recycled to the reactor, in which the treated water sedimentation basin has a diameter at least twice that of the reactor in order to function as a sedimentation basin.

A working robot, which is able to perform a required operation by locating a tool on a working position of a moving object, comprises a robot body moving with the object according to the movement of the object with more than one degree of freedom; an actuator mounted on a free end of the robot body and including a tool mounting unit, on which the tool is mounted, connected by a passive joint which reacts passively to small displacement of the object for locating the tool on the working position; and a control device for controlling the robot body, the actuator, and the tool.

The present invention relates to heterodimeric conjugates of neomycin-chloramphenicol of formula 1, their preparation and their use. Because of their heterodimeric structure, they can recognize both stem and loop of RNA motif and show binding ability to a certain RNA such that they have an enhanced pharmaceutical efficacy and reduced side effect which can be caused by non-specific drugs. For these reasons, they can be effectively used as an antiviral agent, an antibacterial agent or an anticancer drugs.

Oily paclitaxel composition and formulation for chemoembolization and preparation method thereof solubilizing paclitaxel in an oily contrast medium. The composition of the present invention solubilizes paclitaxel and has an advantage of delivering anticancer drug to the target cells by chemoembolization since it is possible to visualize the blood vessel during the chemoembolization process.

A method of manufacturing a porous matrix-type drug delivery system is provided. It comprises the steps of: dispersing, stirring, and emulsifying an aqueous solution of a drug in an organic solvent having a polymer compound and a surface active agent solved therein; thereafter forming it into a desirable matrix shape; lyophilizing or drying it at a low temperature or room temperature until the matrix surface is hardened; and drying it again in order to remove the water and the organic solvent.

A preparation method for biodegradable polymeric microspheres using a solvent extraction method and a preparation method for biodegradable polymeric microspheres for treating a local inflammation disease using the same which are capable of effectively curing ozena such as sinusitis and a middle ear inflammation. Since a non-solvant of the polymer is added into an outer aqueous phase in advance, the solidification of the polymer is implemented in a short time which, in turn, improves the encapsulation efficiency of the therapeutic agent used.
