Abstract:
A method of processing a set of input data values comprises the steps of providing said input data values serially to circuitry (10) comprising a number of memory elements (14, 15, 16, 17, 24, 25, 34); and performing in said circuitry a transform function to obtain a set of transformed data values. The method further comprises the steps of delaying a subset of said set of input data values under use of said memory elements (14, 15, 16, 17, 24, 25, 34); providing a modified set of data values by adding individual delayed data values to individual non-delayed data values from said set of input data values; and performing said transform function on said modified set of data values. In this way a transform function can be evaluated at fewer output data values than available input data values without increasing the memory requirements considerably.

Method, communication system, receiver, baseband processor and computer program for recovering data from a received OFDM-signal containing recurrent redundant information where part of the recurrent redundant information is used to maximize the SINR (Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio) of the received OFDM-signal.
Abstract:
Inter-carrier interference (ICI) in a k th sub-carrier of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signal received at time / is reduced, wherein the received OFDM signal comprises a plurality of sub-carriers. This is achieved by generating a self-interference term, ICI k-L, k-L for a signal received on sub-carrier k-L , wherein L ε [..., - 3,- 2, -1,1, 2,-3,...] , and wherein the self- interference term is an estimate of the data received at time t on the sub-carrier k - L , weighted by a rate of change of the channel through which sub-carrier k - L passes at time t . An ICI cancellation coefficient, G L is obtained depending on a non-rectangular time domain windowing function, and an estimated ICI term is generated by adjusting the self-interference term, ICI k-L,k-L , by an amount based on the ICI cancellation coefficient, G L . The estimated ICI term is then subtracted from a term representing a signal received on the k th sub-carrier at time t .
Abstract:
A Doppler spread value of a channel in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system is estimated, wherein the channel comprises a plurality of carrier frequencies. Estimating involves selecting a set of two or more carrier frequencies from the plurality of carrier frequencies. A Doppler spread value is estimated for each of the selected carrier frequencies. An estimate of the Doppler spread value of the channel is produced by combining the estimated Doppler spread values of each of the selected carrier frequencies. For example, the Doppler spread value of the channel may be estimated by averaging the estimated Doppler spread values of each of the selected carrier frequencies.
Abstract:
A coarse estimate of a location of an information carrying part of a symbol in a received signal in a telecommunication system is generated. This involves generating correlation values by correlating the received signal with a delayed received signal. A maximum correlation value of the correlation values is identified, and a duration in time during which the correlation values are greater than or equal to a predetermined percentage of the maximum correlation value is identified, wherein the duration in time begins at a first moment in time and ends at a second moment in time. The coarse estimate of the location of the peak correlation value is set equal to a moment in time between the first moment in time and the second moment in time, for example, a midpoint between the first moment in time and the second moment in time.
