Abstract: A system for requesting the bandwidth request in a multi-hop relay communication system and a method therefor are provided to reduce the overhead and latency by enabling a relay station to request the bandwidth allocation for a plurality of CIDs by using one bandwidth request header, thereby improving the QoS gain. A relay station detects the initial_RS_CID(802), constructs a GBR_RS_CID_MAP including the bit value of the detected initial_RS_CID(804), forms a GBR header including the constructed GBR_RS_CID_MAP(806), and then transmits the formed result to a base station(808). The method for allocating a bandwidth in the base station comprises the following steps. The base station receives the GBR header from the relay station, decodes the GBR_RS_CID_MAP included within the GBR header, and then assigns an R-UL band for each RS_CID corresponding to the bit value set as 1 among bit values of the GBR_RS_CID_MAP.

Abstract: A system for allocating uplink resources in a communication system and a method thereof are provided to make a base station change and assign an uplink resource, which is exclusively assigned to a mobile station early, in case a mobile station requests it. If a base station detects the fact that it has to provide the service of a specific service quality class to a mobile station, it transmits the first uplink resource allocation information and then assigns the first uplink resource to the mobile station as an exclusive resource(613,615). Abstract: An apparatus and a method for controlling power in a wireless communication system are provided to control idle mode and sleep mode of a mobile terminal. In case communications is not performed, a terminal(201) transmits the sleep require-message to the repeater station(203) in order to reduce the power loss(211). Abstract: A method and an apparatus for classifying packet data of each service flow in a communication system are provided to provide a service by service flows according to a service class included in an IP(Internet Protocol) header or a service label. When an IP packet arrives from an upper layer of a terminal, a classifier performs the first classification according to the first classification information of a header of the IP packet(500,502). The classifier checks whether the IP packet includes the second classification information(504).
