Abstract: An apparatus and a method for providing EPG(Electronic Program Guide) are provided to store EPG information corresponding to past broadcasting contents and provide the stored EPG information to a user to allow the user to use the EPG of the past broadcasting contents. An apparatus for providing EPG includes a storage unit(240), an EPG image construction unit(250), and a controller(230). The storage unit stores broadcasting contents and EPG information. The EPG image construction unit constructs EPG images including information on past, present and future broadcasting contents by using the EPG information. The EPG construction unit forms images such that the broadcasting contents stored in the storage unit are distinguished from broadcasting contents which are not stored in the storage unit. The controller manages broadcasting contents based on a user input signal for selecting broadcasting contents provided through the EPG images.
