PURPOSE: A multimedia device and a control method thereof are provided to automatically update the database optimized in a question value and to provide suboptimal data when it is failed to search database corresponding to the question value. CONSTITUTION: An extraction module (120) scans a channel and extracts text data and audio data. A memory (130) stores the text data and the audio data in database according to predetermined standards. A recognition module (140) recognizes an audio signal from users of a multimedia device and a searching engine (150) searches the audio data corresponding to the audio signal in the database. PURPOSE: A multimedia device for providing voice recognition service and a control method thereof are provided to enlarge the range of voice recognition. CONSTITUTION: A multimedia device extracts feature vector from received audio data(S620). In case the keyword corresponding to the extracted feature vector exists in the first database, the multimedia device controls the execution of a voice recognition service according to keyword(S630,S640). In case the corresponding key word does not exist, the multimedia device searches second database(S650). CONSTITUTION: A multimedia apparatus captures an image through an image sensing unit(S2001). The multimedia apparatus successively displays plural colors on a display unit(S2002). The multimedia apparatus displays a synthesis image and an image which is captured when one of the colors is exposed(S2003). The multimedia apparatus acquires the location and distance information of a subject through a depth sensor of the image sensing unit.

PURPOSE: A user gesture recognition method of a multimedia apparatus and multimedia apparatus thereof are provided to enable a user to conveniently control multimedia apparatuses by providing various user interfaces to the multimedia apparatuses. CONSTITUTION: A recognition unit(171) recognizes user gestures from images inputted by an image sensing unit. When the recognition unit does not recognize the user gestures, a message creation unit(172) creates error messages. A control unit(170) displays the error messages and the images inputted by the image sensing unit. A storage unit(140) stores information for predicted recognition obstacles.

PURPOSE: A multimedia device, heterogeneous image sensors, and a controlling method thereof are provided to automatically store user preference broadcasting program by using heterogeneous image sensors. CONSTITUTION: A multimedia device distinguishes one or more neighbor users by control of a first image sensor and a second image sensor(S2820). In case the distinguished user is deviated from a specific range of a broadcasting receiver, the multimedia device stores the broadcasting program at a deviated point(S2830). The multimedia device displays a guide message about the output of the stored broadcasting program(S2840). The multimedia apparatus controls the output of the stored broadcasting program(S2850).
