Abstract:
A hydrogel for treating atopic dermatitis is provided to be easy for preparation, inhibit the moisture evaporation by laminating a hydrophilic non-woven fabric and an air-permeable polyethylene film, continuously deliver a drug, show excellent gel strength, prevent the infection of bacteria, and have the satisfactory storage property and sterilizing effect by irradiation of radioactive rays without the remaining toxicity caused by a crosslinking agent, thereby being effectively used for treating contagious dermatitis or atopic dermatitis. A hydrogel for treating atopic dermatitis comprises: at least one biocompatible polymer selected from the group consisting of polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinylpyrrolidone, and carrageenan; glycerin as a polyhydric alcohol; an extract of at least one medicinal herb selected from the group consisting of Houttuynia cordata, Ulmus davidiana var. japonica, persimmon leaves, Chelidonium majus var. asiaticum, pine needles, Canavalia gladiata and herb; and a moisture evaporation preventing film which is a laminated produce of a hydrophilic non-woven fabric and an air-permeable polyethylene film. A method for preparing the hydrogel comprises the steps of: (a) dissolving the biocompatible polymer and the polyhydric alcohol in the extract of the medicinal herb to prepare an aqueous solution; (b) coating the aqueous solution on the moisture evaporation preventing film and casting it to mold a pre-hydrogel; (c) packing the pre-hydrogel; and (d) applying radioactive rays to the packed gel to sterilize it. Further, the hydrogel for treating atopic dermatitis contains the 1-50 wt.% of biocompatible polymer, the 1-20 wt.% of polyhydric alcohol and the 1-30 wt.% of extract.
