Provided is a steroscopic video encoding and/or decoding apparatus that supports multi-display modes, the encoding/decoding method thereof, and computer-readable recording medium for recording a program that implements the encoding/decoding method. The encoding apparatus of this research incorporates: a field separating means for separating right and left-eye input images into an odd field of the left-eye image (LO), even field of the left-eye image (LE), odd-numbered field (RO) of the right-eye image, and even-numbered field (RE) of the right-eye image; an encoding means for encoding the fields separated in the field separating means by performing motion and disparity compensation; and a multiplexing means for multiplexing the essential fields among the fields received from the encoding means, based on the user display information.

A package service management system and method in digital cable broadcasting comprises: a host having middleware for receiving broadcast signals of a headend and bidirectional service information, and executing a package application program for providing a package service; a POD for analyzing data, and decoding a package subscription and termination message using an encoded key so as to allow or disallow watching channels; and a headend for defining package-setting information, transmitting it to the host or the POD, generating entitlement test messages on a paid channel, transmitting them to the POD, and transmitting the subscriber's encoded key according to a request by the POD. Therefore, the subscriber can watch TV and remotely subscribe or terminate a paid package service, thereby increasing user's convenience.

PURPOSE: A digital television transmitting and receiving apparatus for transmitting and receiving a dual stream using 4-VSB(Vestigial Side Band) strong data and a method therefor are provided to improve the receiving performance of a receiving device by transmitting and receiving the dual stream formed as general data and strong data without increasing a mean power irrespective of a mixing rate of the dual stream. CONSTITUTION: A multiplexer(401) receives a digital image data stream. If strong data are included in the digital image data stream, a reinforcement encoder(411) encodes the strong data so that the strong data are mapped to one of two groups expressed as 4 levels. A trellis encoder encodes the strong data so that the strong data are mapped to groups expressed as 4 levels except for the two groups. A multiplexer(417) selectively inputs the strong data to one of the reinforcement encoder(411) and the trellis encoder. A pilot inserter/modulator/RF converter(419) performs the VSB modulation with respect to an output signal of one of the reinforcement encoder(411) and the trellis encoder, and transmits the modulated signal to a VSB receiving system.

PURPOSE: A stereoscopic video encoding and decoding method, and encoding and decoding apparatus are provided to maintain compatibility and minimize complexity of synchronization of left and right images. CONSTITUTION: A stereoscopic video encoding apparatus includes a video object encoder(200) for encoding the first image and outputting a quantized video object and a motion vector with respect to the first image, a disparity estimator(100) for receiving the first and second images and obtaining a pixel-based horizontal disparity map with respect to the second image on the basis of the first image, and an auxiliary component encoder(320) for encoding the horizontal disparity map on the basis of the pixel-based horizontal disparity map and the motion vector to output a quantized horizontal disparity map.

PURPOSE: An apparatus for receiving and transmitting digital broadcasting using a multiple frequency band and a method thereof are provided to increase the efficiency of a data service of a system by realizing a trunk effect. CONSTITUTION: A data encoding element(11) encodes data to be transmitted. A capacity managing module(12) divides the encoded data into several channels according to the capacity of the channels, and records header information to restore the divided data into the original data in a receiving apparatus. A channel encoding element(13) channel-encodes the divided data according to a channel environment. A transmitting element(14) multiplexes and modulates the channel-encoded data to transmit the multiplexed and modulated data.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: A digital broadcasting system using a multi-antenna and a method therefor are provided to enhance a diversity gain by combining signals transmitted from a transmission device through a plurality of receiving antennas and one signal processor. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of receiving antennas(207) receive digital broadcasting signals transmitted from a plurality of transmitting antennas(206). A plurality of frequency down-converters and digital demodulators(208) convert RF(Radio Frequency) signals received through the receiving antennas(207) into baseband signals. A plurality of channel estimators(209) estimate channels from the respective baseband signals. A signal processor(210) combines the received signals with the channel characteristics estimated in the channel estimators(209), and obtains a diversity gain. An error correction decoder(211) corrects the error of the output signal of the signal processor(210), and recovers a digital data series. A demultiplexer and source decoder(212) divides the digital data series recovered through the error correction decoder(211) into image signals, voice signals and additional data, and decompresses compressed signals.

PURPOSE: A method for inserting null packet in a digital broadcast transmitting system and an apparatus thereof are provided to improve the capability of a receiving and transmitting system by regularly inserting null packet into the corresponding TS. CONSTITUTION: A null packet removing unit removes irregularly inserted null packet from video/audio TS(Transport Stream)(S201). A null packet bit rate calculator calculates a bit rate of the removed null packet(S202). A broadcast TS buffer temporarily stores the video/audio TS from which the null packet is removed(S203). A GUI(Graphic User Interface) decides a transport period of another null packet to be newly inserted within a range not exceeding the calculated bit rate(S204). A periodical null packet generator generates periodical null packet according to the decided transport period(S205). A null packet buffer temporarily stores the generated periodical null packet(S206-S207). A multiplexer regularly inserts the generated periodical null packet and then inserts video/audio TS for multiplexing(S208). A non-periodical generator generates and inserts non-periodical null packet in the case that an output rate of the multiplexed TS is different from an input rate of the video/audio TS received from the outside(S209). A PCR(Program Clock Reference) corrector corrects the changed PCR of the multiplexed TS(S210).

Disclosed is a system for statistically processing messages which comprises: a message compiler for compiling upstream and downstream messages of a network controller; a database for storing data; a message storage unit for storing the messages in the database when an amount of the messages compiled in the message compiler reaches a predetermined level; a statistical function handler for performing statistical processes on the messages stored in the database according to functions designated by a user; and a statistical result value storage unit for converting the results from the processes performed by the statistical function handler into a file of a predetermined format, then storing the file as a target table in the database.
