    Abstract: PURPOSE: A terminal and a communication method thereof are provided to select an a multi-functional terminal which is optimized to operate as a repeater mode or a base station mode, by utilizing a base station identification (BSID) of a previous serving base station for multi-functional terminals. When detecting a service of a serving base station is unavailable, the processor searches for an available base station which is adjacent to the multi-functional terminal. The processor transmits a ranging request message including a previous serving BSID of the said serving base station to an available adjacent base station. The adjacent base station selects the multi-functional terminal using the said BSID for recovering a temporary network via a terminal.
