Abstract: The invention proposes a reactor (1) having a contact tube bundle (2) through whose space surrounding the contact tubes a heat-exchange medium circuit is passed, with ring lines (3, 4) at both ends of the reactor with jacket apertures (5, 6) for the supply and discharge of a heat-exchange medium by means of a pump via an external heat exchanger, where the heat-exchange medium is fed to the lower ring line (4) and is discharged to the heat exchanger via the upper ring line (3), and with baffle plates (7) which leave a passage cross section alternately in the reactor center and at the reactor edge. The upper (3) and lower (4) ring lines are each divided into an inner (11, 13) and an outer (12, 14) ring line by a cylindrical partition wall (8, 9), and the heat-exchange medium is fed to the outer lower ring line (14), via a region outside the reactor to the inner upper ring line (11), via the jacket apertures (5) of the latter to the region surrounding the contact tubes (2), via the jacket apertures (6) to the inner lower ring line (13) and subsequently via a region outside the reactor to the outer upper ring line (12).

Abstract: Oxidation reactor (1) has a bundle of tubes (2) for flowing ingredients, surrounded by a heat chamber containing a heat medium. The upright heat chamber ends have inlet and outlets linked by a ring-flow (4, 5) pipes a pump (8) driven by a vertical shaft (9). The pump has diagonal-action impeller (10) blades with a heat medium (3) throttle gap (11) parallel to the shaft (9), on the pressure side of the pump. Some of the hot medium is drawn from the upper ring pipe (4), passes through one or more external heat exchangers, and is then returned to the lower ring pipe (5). The gap produces a leak current of preferably 5 to 10% of total flow (3). Some of the leaked (11) hot medium is surrendered to the pump inlet side. On the pump inlet side the impeller seal acts as a hydrodynamic bearing (13). The pump has a spiral egress. The reactor heat chamber incorporates a number of baffle plates (12).

Abstract: A reactor having a contact tube bundle has a heat exchange agent recycle loop fed through the chamber and rotating disks that rotate in the reactor center and edge whereby the lower ring connection is divided into two regions by means of a horizontal separating wall that communicate with each other via, preferably uniformly divided openings having an adjustable through opening. A reactor (1) having a contact tube bundle (2) has a heat exchange agent recycle loop fed through the chamber surrounding the contact tubes, having ring tubing (3,4) at both reactor ends (5,6) in the shell for addition and/or removal of a heat exchange agent by means of at least one pump optionally by passage of at least part of the heat exchange agent via at least one external heat exchanger whereby the heat exchange agent is added via the lower ring tubing (4) and fed back via the upper ring tubing (3) to the pump(s) as well as rotating disks (7) that rotate in the reactor center and edge whereby the lower ring connection (4) is divided into two regions by means ofa horizontal separating wall that communicate with each other via, preferably uniformly divided openings (9) having an adjustable through opening.

Abstract: A contact tube bundle reactor (1), with partitioned headers (3, 4) allowing heat exchange medium supply to the lower header to be combined with co-current passage within the reactor, is new. A reactor (1) has: (a) a contact tube bundle (2), through the tube interspaces of which a circulating heat exchange medium is passed; (b) annular headers (3, 4) with side openings (5, 6) for pumped supply and return of heat exchange medium, part or all of which is optionally passed through an external heat exchanger, the heat exchange medium being supplied to the lower header (4) and returned via the upper header (3) to the pump; and (c) baffle plates (7) which leave a passage opening alternately at the reactor center and at the reactor edge. Each header (3, 4) is sub-divided by a cylindrical partition (8, 9) into inner (11, 13) and outer (12, 14) headers and the heat exchange medium of the outer lower header (14) is passed via an inner upper header (11) region outside the reactor and via its side openings (6) into the inner lower header (13) and then discharged through an outer upper header (12) region outside the reactor.
