Abstract: PURPOSE:To constitute the printer so that recorded printer arrangement information peculiar to each printer can be confirmed from a host side by sending back the printer arrangement position information stored in a storage means to the host in accordance with an inquiry command from the host. CONSTITUTION:A printing part interface 115 receives a printing start instruction, outputs a printing start signal 131 to a printer engine control part, and also, reads out dot data from a bit map memory 107. From a printer control part, a horizontal synchronizing signal 132 and a vertical synchronizing signal 133 are sent, therefore, in synchronism with each signal 132, 133, the dot data read out of the bit map memory 107 is converted to a serial signal through a parallel- series converter 116 and sent out to the printer engine control part and a printer engine, and a printing operation is executed. Also, in accordance with an inquiry command from the host, a host interface 102 sends back printer arrangement position information stored in a nonvolatile RAM 109.

If both memories 103 and 104 include no pattern of a desired size and the memory 113 contains a pattern of a different size, the pattern of the memory 113 is used for production of the outline data.

The font pattern is developed (copied) in an address of an image memory 104 corresponding to a specified image position. When a code indicating the start of printing is inputted, the printer engine 105 is actuated. The font pattern which is developed in the image memory 104 is outputted to the printer engine 105 in order to obtain a print-out result with the desired resolution.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the degradation of printing, by a method wherein, pattern data for every input color component is developed after the pixels of the other pattern data are reset according to the state of pattern data for a predetermined color component to be outputted to a predetermined visible image forming device. CONSTITUTION:An input interface 2 inputs data from a host computer 101 and successively stores them in a page buffer memory 3. A CPU 1 makes a character font ROM 4 generate a pattern corresponding to a character code stored in the page buffer memory 3 and develops the pattern in a bit map memory 6 or 7 through a color priority circuit 5. The decision of a target to be developed depends on a color designation code in the data received. After image data for one page are respectively developed to bit map memories 6 and 7, the respective image data are outputted to a printing part 9 through an output interface 8, and a visible image is formed. In this manner, the possibility that different colors are overlap-printed on the same pixel is eliminated.

Thus, even when the DMA transfer error is generated, a device can be prevented from being completely made into the stop condition.

Then the enhanced part 39 of character [A] of a character string 38 is shifted by a half period in red compared to a black pattern.
