The focal distance information of an image pickup lens is requested to the camera and received. Then, the movable light emission part is moved to the position corresponding to the focal distance and it is displayed that the mode is the first mode.

And when the still mode is selected by the selecting switch SW3, and when the switch SW3 is turned off by the misoperation, a controlling means inhibits the mode of the camera from being shifted to the normal mode till a specified time elapses by a timer means or till a discriminating means discriminates whether a picture is taken or not to a last frame of the film.
