Abstract:
The invention provides possible methods and facilities of watching movies in common theaters. A watching method includes: installing two projectors, each showing respectively a picture plane of a pair of 3D frames; synchronous manipulation making the two projectors alternate in light transmission and light block one in light transmission another in light block; alternating with each other: synchronous signals sending to liquid crystal polarizing glasses; a liquid crystal light valve and projectors alternating with each other synchronously to make audience see the left picture with left eye and right picture with right eye and form the complete 3D picture. The invention can improve the bright evenness of the pictures, easy to maintain screen and to embrace common and 3D movies only if used in existing film projectors or video projectors. It only needs to press a switching button without changing lens and screens, suitable to remold existing common theaters into embracing common and 3D theaters.

A wavelength-selective optical add-drop switch includes a first and a second 1×2 wavelength switch optically coupled to one another via at least one mirror. Each of the first and second 1×2 wavelength switches has a switch input and two switch outputs, a wavelength dispersive medium optically coupled to the switch input and the two switch outputs, a lens optically coupled to the wavelength dispersive medium and a segmented beam steering apparatus optically coupled to the lens opposite to the wavelength dispersive medium. The add-drop wavelength switch has a high extinction ratio and low loss.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of surface treatment of metallic materials, more particularly, to a method of the surface self-nanocrystallization of metallic materials by the bombarding of supersonic fine particles. The method comprises the step of bombarding the surface of metallic substrate material with fine particles at supersonic speed of 300-1200 m/s carried by a compressed gas, which is ejected from a nozzle. The present method can be used for the surface self-nanocrystallization of metallic parts with a complicated structure or a large area, and the nanometer layer obtained is homogeneous. In addition, it can be operated in a simple way with low energy consumption, low cost, high efficiency of production and high surface nanocrystallization rate of from 1 cm2 to 10 cm2/min.
Abstract:
The invention provides an organic extract of Geum japonicum thunb var. (EGJ), and a pharmaceutical composition comprising the same. The organic EGJ has been identified to show potent dual effects on stimulating early growth (less than 48 hours) of new vessels both in ischemic heart muscles and in infracted heart muscles, and on triggering myocardial regeneration in myocardial infarction, and therefore, may be used in the treatment of ischemic diseases in human being or animals including ischemic heart disease and ischemic limbs, and damaged myocardium associated diseases.
Abstract:
A method of laser machining using an ultra-fast pulse laser is presented. According to the present invention a plurality of holes with a pitch less than the wavelength of the laser are drilled into a material sample. Reliable and reproducible hole drilling is accomplished through an exemplary drilling sequence which applies a number of pulses at a first pulse energy to the surface spaced to avoid laser hardening of the surface for adjacent holes of a first set of holes. Next, the number of pulses is increased or the energy of the laser beam is increased to drill holes that are interstitial to the first set of holes. The exemplary laser machining process may used to produce both one-dimensional and two-dimensional photonic crystals, among other applications.
Abstract:
A document retrieval system where a user can enter a query, including a natural language query, in a desired one of a plurality of supported languages, and retrieve documents from a database that includes documents in at least one other language of the plurality of supported languages. The user need not have any knowledge of the other languages. Each document in the database is subjected to a set of processing steps to generate a language-independent conceptual representation of the subject content of the document. This is normally done before the query is entered. The query is also subjected to a (possibly different) set of processing steps to generate a language-independent conceptual representation of the subject content of the query. The documents and queries can also be subjected to additional analysis to provide additional term-based representations, such as the extraction of information-rich terms and phrases (such as proper nouns). Documents are matched to queries based on the conceptual-level contents of the document and query, and, optionally, on the basis of the term-based representation. The query's representation is then compared to each document's representation to generate a measure of relevance of the document to the query.
Abstract:
An ultrasonic imaging system has a three-dimensional acoustic display. Beam-formed ultrasound scan signals are separated into channel signals and are then filtered using head-related transfer function (HRTF) filters. An HRTF is associated with each of several points in an interrogation region. A filter coefficient processor selects, for each channel signal, a set of HRTF filter parameters according to which sample volume the channel signal comes from. Each HRTF parameter set defines left-ear and right-ear response functions to a calibration sound generated at a calibration point in a calibration space; the calibration point itself corresponds to a predetermined position in the interrogation region. The HRTF-filtered channel signals are then combined into left and right audio output signals which drive left and right speakers that the user listens to while performing the ultrasound scan. The calibration points in the calibration space are mapped to respective reference sample volumes located in a predetermined ultrasonic interrogation region.

A harvester high efficiency heat utilization device to be used in a harvester, includes: a drying chamber that dries grains of crops; a pipe that communicates with the drying chamber; a first heat exchanger provided in the pipe so as to communicate with an exhaust gas discharge port of an engine of the harvester; a combustion chamber that burns foliage of the crops; a second heat exchanger provided in the pipe so as to communicate with a high temperature gas discharge port of the combustion chamber; and a first blower that guides gas heat-exchanged by the first heat exchanger and the second heat exchanger to the drying chamber through the pipe.
Abstract:
A driver circuit for lighting applications that includes a power input circuit for receiving power; a light emitting diode (LED) output current circuit for interfacing with a light source; and a light emitting diode (LED) power supply circuit for controlling current to the light emitting diode (LED) output current circuit. A controller circuit is present in the circuit for signaling the light emitting power supply (LED) to control current to the light emitting diode (LED) output current circuit. The controller is reset by removing power to the controller. A smoothing capacitor is present for stabilizing at least an output voltage. The circuit further includes a current rectifying circuit that prohibits back current traveling from the smoothing capacitor to the controller circuit when the AC power is off.
