Abstract:
A method for allocating polling bandwidth may include generating polling tokens corresponding to connections maintained by a base station. The polling tokens may be generated at configurable time intervals. The method may also include assigning priorities to the polling tokens. The priority of a polling token may depend on a scheduling type of a corresponding connection. The method may also include allocating polling bandwidth to the connections that correspond to the highest priority polling tokens when uplink bandwidth is available to allocate for polling.
Abstract:
A method of designing a network results in a network with an efficient addressing scheme which allows for filters to perform a simple logical operation. The process begins by arranging a plurality of nodes connected by a plurality of bi-directional links in a tree topology. Each node is assigned a range of consecutive flow process addresses such that each packet carried in a first direction on one of the bi-directional links has an address within the range A A .

Abstract:
Transfer of Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Services (MBMS) over a Single Frequency Network (MBSFN) service and idle mode unicast service for a mobile entity from a source base station to a target base station may be managed by a base station or mobile entity of a cellular wireless communications system (WCS). Operations related to the transfer may include obtaining an MBMS status of the mobile entity, and/or obtaining MBMS support information for the base station. A network entity may facilitate MBMS discovery by a mobile entity, by transmitting a data element to the mobile entity including service identifiers mapped to corresponding cell identifiers to indicate respective MBMS services to be broadcast in an WCS area on adjacent cells identified by respective ones of the cell identifiers. The MBMS services may be broadcast within the WCS area using the adjacent cells previously indicated in the data element.
Abstract:
Wireless communication in a radio access network may be implemented in a manner where a user equipment (UE) with multiple Universal Subscriber Identity Modules (USIMs) selects a system based on the system's preference status among the USIMs of the UE. A system that is home to all the UE's USIMs is selected over one that is home to some USIMs but roaming for others. A system that is home to some USIMs but not provisioned for other USIMs is selected over one that is roaming to all USIMs. A system that is roaming to all USIMs is selected over one that is roaming to some USIMs but not provisioned for other USIMs. Ranking of systems may be done independently by USIM or may be done using a combined ranking method that considers other USIMs prior to an individual USIM indicating a system priority. Manual system selection may also be used.
Abstract:
Wireless communication in a multicarrier radio access network, such as a (TD-SCDMA) network, may be implemented where a user equipment (UE) maintains communication over various carrier frequencies in the multicarrier network. The UE will receive a downlink pilot channel transmitted on every subframe on a primary carrier frequency. The UE will also receive a downlink pilot channel transmitted on less than every subframe on a secondary carrier frequency The downlink pilot channel is sent in subframes on the secondary carrier frequencies using a particular period and offset to reduce or minimize interference.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure propose a method for addressing MAC protocol data units which include MOB_ PAG-ADV messages in an attempt to improve the success rate of decoding BS broadcast paging messages. For example, certain embodiments propose parsing and continuing to decode MPDUs with MOB_ PAG-ADV messages although the corresponding CRC failed.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for expressing two or more extended information elements (IEs) of a MAP message using a single Extended or Extended-2 Downlink Interval Usage Code (DIUC) or Uplink Interval Usage Code (UIUC) in an orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) or orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) frame are provided. This enhancement, called extensible Extended IE mapping, allows the WiMAX network to include more IEs into the DL-MAP and UL-MAP messages as the IEEE 802.16 family of standards evolves. Without this enhancement, all of the new IEs may most likely have to be included in the data bursts, and a user terminal (e.g., a mobile station) cannot decode these data-burst IEs unless the user terminal receives the Downlink Channel Descriptor (DCD) message(s).
