Abstract:
The disclosure provides for selectively utilizing an inactive mode for saving power during wireless communications. A user equipment (UE) may transmit a first data packet for a first bearer using a Hybrid Automatic Repeat request (HARQ) process to a base station on a first channel. The UE may receive at least two acknowledgments, for the HARQ process on a second channel different than the first channel indicating that the first data packet was successfully received by the base station. The UE may determine whether a second data packet is communicated for the first bearer or a second bearer. The UE may also determine, based at least in part on the determination of whether the second data packet is communicated, whether to enter into an inactive mode in which at least the second channel is not decoded.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for improving inter-Radio Access Technology (RAT) measurements. A user equipment (UE) determines, while in a connected state Discontinuous Reception (CDRX) mode in a first cell of a first Radio Access Technology Network (RAT), that a second cell of a second RAT is to be measured. The UE schedules at least two operational periods related to transitioning between ON and OFF states of the CDRX mode to overlap, to increase a period available for measuring signals in the second cell.
Abstract:
A user equipment (UE) may have data in a buffer for uplink (UL) transmission. The UE may transmit a buffer status report (BSR) indicating the amount of data. The BSR may fail or a base station may not grant sufficient resources for transmission of the data. A BSR failure condition may be based on a radio link control (RLC) operating mode of the data. For example, the data may be an acknowledgement (ACK) for an acknowledged mode (AM) DL transmission. In this case, the UE may initiate a BSR retransmission (Retx-BSR) timer and determine whether any duplicate transmissions have been received. The data may also be associated with an unacknowledged mode (UM), and the BSR failure condition may include waiting for a time interval that is less than the Retx-BSR time interval. When the BSR failure condition is satisfied, the UE may transmit a scheduling request to the base station.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for improved acquisition of wireless communication systems or networks are described. A wireless communication device may be connected to a first network that uses a first radio access technology (RAT). When a failure occurs (e.g., lost connection), the device may attempt to acquire a cell or channel of another network that uses a second RAT. The time consumed for acquiring the channel of the second RAT may be reduced by providing a suitably prioritized list of channels. In some examples, the device may identify a channel for initial access or following a call failure based on prior successful access on that channel, or based on information provided by a server, or both.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. In a first configuration, the apparatus is an eNB. The eNB configures a UE with aggregated carriers including a primary carrier from a primary cell and one or more secondary carriers from one or more secondary cells. In addition, the eNB sends, with the configuration, SIB13 information for at least one secondary cell of the one or more secondary cells from the primary cell. In a second configuration, the apparatus is a UE. The UE receives a configuration with aggregated carriers including a primary carrier from a primary cell and one or more secondary carriers from one or more secondary cells. In addition, the UE receives, with the configuration, SIB13 information for at least one secondary cell of the one or more secondary cells from the primary cell.
Abstract:
Compression of broadcast data packets is described in which a compressed broadcast data packet is formed by causing at least one field in a packet header to be excluded from the transmitted data packet. The data from the compressed or removed field is data that is otherwise available to a user entity. The user entity receives the compressed broadcast data packet and determines information corresponding to at least one of the eliminated fields in order to process the received broadcast information.
Abstract:
A method for scanning for wireless systems is described. The method includes camping on a first system of a first system type. The method also includes maintaining a second system type not available list. The method additionally includes maintaining a second system type available list. The method further includes detecting a scan trigger. The method also includes determining whether the first system is in the second system type not available list. The method additionally includes scanning for second system type systems based on a timer.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for serving multiple subscribers through a software-enabled access point (softAP) are described. One example method generally includes establishing at least one wireless wide area network (WWAN) connection for one or more wireless local area network (WLAN) clients, wherein each WLAN client belongs to one of a plurality of subscriber groups, and monitoring use of each WWAN connection for each subscriber group of the plurality of subscriber groups.
Abstract:
A method for voice/data hybrid mode within a user equipment (UE). The method includes detecting a first radio access technology (RAT) activity in response to a received first RAT suspend request for a second RAT tune-away. The method also includes adaptively performing the first RAT suspend request according to a predetermined priority of the detected first RAT activity and a second RAT tune-away activity. A receive chain is shared between a first RAT modem and a second RAT modem of the UE.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus monitors a page during a current paging cycle on a first frequency. In addition, the apparatus switches to a second frequency after the current paging cycle to receive multicast/broadcast information on the second frequency. Furthermore, the apparatus attempts to receive the multicast/broadcast information on the second frequency before a predetermined time.
