    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make pure water with a good economical efficiency and good reliability by injecting chloramine in a liquid to be treated to separate said liquid into a concentrate and a transmitted liquid by a composite reverse osmosis membrane before removing chloramine. CONSTITUTION:When the components of a liquid mixture are selectively separated by a reverse osmosis method to make pure water, monochloramine and/or dichloramine is injected in a liquid to be treated. This liquid to be treated is separated into a concentrate and a transmitted liquid by a composite reverse osmosis membrane being a polyamide membrane but chloramine is transmitted without being removed by the reverse osmosis membrane. Thereafter, bisulfite or sulfite is added to the transmitted liquid to decompose chloramine into an ammonium ion and a chlorine ion, and these ions are adsorbed by an ion exchange resin. By this method, water making due to the composite reverse osmosis membrane is stably performed without using chlorine.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a compound semipermeable membrane having high desalting effect, water permeability, and resistance to oxidizing agent by forming an extremely thin film of crosslinked polyamide on a porous membrane having minute pores by causing an interfacial polycondensation of a soln. contg. a polyfunctional aromatic amine and ethylenediamine with a soln. contg. a polyfunctional acid halide. CONSTITUTION:A compound semipermeable membrane is obtd. by causing interfacial polycondensation of a soln. contg. a polyfunctional aromatic amine having >=2 amino groups and 1-20wt.% (basing on the amt. of said amine) ethylenediamine with a soln. contg. a polyfunctional acid halide having >=2 halocarbonyl group on a porous base film having minute pores such as polysulfone base film. The membrane produced by this method has high desalting effect, high water permeability, and high resistance to oxidizing agent. On one hand, the desalting effect, and the water permeability may be further improved if the membrane is dipped in an aq. soln. contg. chlorine and having 6-13pH.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare purified water economically and reliably by injecting a given volume of ammoniacal nitrogen into a liquid to be treated containing 0.1-10ppm of free chlorine and then treating said liquid to be treated with a composite reverse osmosis membrane. CONSTITUTION:Ammoniacal nitrogen, 1-10 times of volume of free chlorine, is injected into a liquid to be treated containing 0.1-10ppm of free chlorine. Then, said liquid to be treated is treated with a composite reverse osmosis membrane to prepared permeating purified water and concentrated liquid. As for the liquid to be treated, usually river water, underground water or the like is used, and pH of the liquid to be treated is determined in consideration of hydrolysis properties of the membrane to be used, separation of scale and the like, and generally pH 4-10, preferably around 6-8. As a composite reverse osmosis membrane, a membrane having a polyamide group activated layer, particularly a crosslinking aromatic group polyamide activated layer is suitable.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a semipermeable membrane having durability to chlorine, by using a polymer expressed by specific formulas as the semipermeable membrane. CONSTITUTION:The polymer expressed by formula I (R1-R4 are >=1 groups selected from an alkyl group of 1-4C, carboxylic acid group and carboxymethyl group) is used as the semipermeable membrane. The semipermeable membrane obtd. from the polymer in which R1, R2 are a hydrogen group and/or carboxylic acid group, R3, R4 are a methyl group and/or carboxymethy group is more preferable in terms of durability and water permeability. This polymer is obtd. by converting poly(2, 6-dimethyl-1, 4-phenyleneoxide) to a lithium salt by n-butyl lithium in a mixed benzene/tetrahydrofuran soln. and brining the same into reaction with carbon dioxide.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To control the desired solute removing rate of the title membrane and to maximize the liq. permeation quantity at that time by using plural liq. separation membranes having different membrane performance to form the liq. separation membrane. CONSTITUTION:The separation membranes 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b, 3a, and 3b are formed with at least >=2 kinds of different membranes. The A in the figure is a part where the separation membranes 1a and 1b, the membranes 2a and 2b, and the membranes 3a and 3b are bonded to each other. The raw water passes through the part of a net 15 as shown by the arrow, and permeates through the membrane while passing through the surface layer of the separation membrane. The permeated water enters into a tricot 14, flows to a center pipe 8, enters into a pipe 8 from a hole 9, and is recovered. The membrane performance is shown by the two parameters, the solute removing rate and the liq. permeation velocity, and given by the desalting rate and the water permeation quantity when seawater, brackish water, etc., are desalted.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve an excellent effect of preventing the propagation of microorganisms with an inexpensive sterilizer by bringing and preserving a semipermeable membrane in contact with an aq. soln. contg. chlorine dioxide as the sterilizer and having specific pH. CONSTITUTION:The composite semipermeable membrane of a polyamide formed by using, for example, a fiber reinforced polysulfone base is preserved in the aq. soln. of 5-8pH contg. the chlorine dioxide. The change of the membrane performance is thereby obviated even after the long-period preservation and the propagation of the microorganisms such as mold is obviated.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composite semipermeable membrane having high desalting property and water permeation velocity and oxidation resistance even in a reduced-pressure operation by coating an extremely thin membrane consisting essentially of cross-linked piperazinepolyamide and the constituent shown by a specified formula. CONSTITUTION:For example, an aq. soln. contg. piperazine, 1,3-bis(4-piperidyl)- propane, dodecyl sodium sulfate, and trisodium phosphate is coated on a fiber- reinforced supporting membrane, and air-dried. Then the soln. of a mixture of isophthalic acid chloride and trimesic acid chloride in trichlorotrifluoroethane is coated, heat-treated, and subjected to interfacial polycondensation. The composite semipermeable membrane coated with the extremely thin membrane consisting essentially of cross-linked piperazinepolyamide and contg. the constituent shown by the formula is obtained in this way.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a composite semipermeable membrane capable of obtaining high permeability of water at low pressure and suitable for the manufacturing of ultra-pure water, by performing the crosslinking reaction of a water soluble org. polymer and aromatic polyfunctional acid chloride on a porous support and subsequently drying the whole. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution containing a water soluble org. polymer such as piperazine modified polyepihalohydrin is applied to a porous support having fine pores with a pore size of 100-1,000Angstrom . After water was partially or entirely evaporated, a solution prepared by dissolving aromatic polyfunctional acid chloride having three or more of acid chloride groups in a solvent not compatible with water and not dissolving the porous support is applied to said support to perform crosslinking reaction. The concn. of the water soluble org. polymer is pref. 0.1-10wt% and that of acid chloride is pref. 0.01-1wt%. Drying is performed with a range of room temp. -150 deg.C for 1-60min.
