    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a silicon carbide inorganic fiber having excellent mechanical properties, alkali resistance, heat-resistance and durability and useful for engine parts of aircraft, etc., by adding a compound of a metallic atom of the group 2A, etc., to a specific polysilane and spinning the mixture under a specific condition. SOLUTION: A compound of a metal selected from the metals of the groups 2A, 3A and 3B and exhibiting an amphoteric or basic nature in the form of an oxide is added to a polysilane having a C/Si molar ratio of >=1.5 and the mixture is made to react by heating in an inert gas to obtain a metalcontaining organic silicon polymer. The objective silicon carbide inorganic fiber having an oxygen content of is produced by melt-spinning the above polymer, infusibilizing the produced fiber by heating at 50-170 deg.C in an oxygen-containing atmosphere, preheating the infusibilized fiber in an inert atmosphere and finally baking the preheated fiber at a high temperature in an inert gas atmosphere or a reducing gas atmosphere.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a ceramic fiber having high heat resistance and excellent mechanical properties by spinning a polytitanocarbosilane, treating the spun fiber for infusibilization and mineralization, treating with boron, and subsequently burning the treated fiber. SOLUTION: A polytitanocarbosilane composed of a carbosilane structure and a siloxane structure is melt spun, subsequently treated under heating in air and further in nitrogen to obtain an infusibilized fiber. Then, the infusibilized fiber is heated at 1200-1450 deg.C in an inert gas such as nitrogen into a mineralized fiber.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the title carbonaceous composite material having excellent strength, elasticity and toughness by using hybrid fibers containing inorganic fibers obtained from specific polycyclic aromatic polymers as reinforcing materials and constituting matrix of carbon. CONSTITUTION:(A) An inorganic fiber which is obtained from a silicon- containing polycyclic aromatic polymer and comprise a carbonaceous material in a crystal arranged state, a crystalline carbon in a non-orientated state and a Si-C-O substance, (B) an inorganic fiber which is obtained from a polycyclic aromatic polymer containing an element selected from Ti, Zr and Hf and silicon and comprise a carbonaceous material in a crystal arranged state, crystalline carbon in a non-orientated state and a Si-M-C-O substance (M is Ti, Zr or Hf) and (C) carbon fiber, glass fiber, boron fiber, alumina fiber, etc., are prepared. Then hybrid fibers which contain at least one of the component A and the component B and comprise at least two fibers selected from the cokmponents A, B and C are produced. Then the hybrid fibers are used as a reinforcing material and carbon is utilized to produce the title composite material.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the title composite material of improved mechanical strength and resistance to corrosion, heat and wear, consisting of, as reinforcing material, inorganic fiber obtained from a silicon-contg. polycyclic aromatic polymer and, as matrix, a carbonaceous inorganic material obtained from said polymer.
