Abstract:
Disclosed are methods, apparatus and systems, including computer program products, implementing and using techniques for authenticating data for playing a game of chance on a gaming machine. A motherboard is provided in the gaming machine. A peripheral component is in communication with the motherboard over a bus. The peripheral component has access to authentication code in a memory. An authentication instruction message is received over the bus. Responsive to receiving the authentication instruction message, the authentication code is executed on a processor to perform an authentication process on the data. A signal is output, indicating whether the authentication process is successful in authenticating the data. In one implementation, the signal enables play of the game of chance on the gaming machine when the authentication process is successful, and disables play of the game of chance when the authentication process is unsuccessful.

Abstract:
A handheld electronic device for use at a venue hosting a live sporting event, having a receiver for receiving a wireless RF transmission conveying a plurality of video streams derived from video cameras filming the live sporting event, a display and a user interface for selecting a video stream among the plurality of video streams to be displayed on the display. The handheld electronic device is capable to acquire a locked mode of operation and an unlocked mode of operation, in the locked mode of operation the handheld electronic device being precluded from displaying the video streams to a spectator, in the unlocked mode of operation the handheld electronic device being enabled to display the video streams to the spectator, the handheld electronic device capable to acquire the unlocked mode of operation in response to reception of authentication data wirelessly transmitted to the handheld electronic device.
Abstract:
In order to realize a pseudo-chat without lowering a communication efficiency, a game server device (3) is stored with message information expressing the contents of a message issued by a player and a card ID for discriminating each of plural players, in a corresponding manner. Each of plural game devices (1) reads the card ID from a card (2) and transmits it to the game server device (3), receives the personal information corresponding to the card ID and stores it, and transmits the personal information to the game device (1) of another participant and causes the game device (1) to store the personal information. Each game device (1) displays, when an event is detected, the message expressed with the stored personal information, and requests the game device (1) of another participant for the display of the message. Each game device (1) displays, when requested for the display of the message by the game device (1) of another participant, the message expressed with the stored personal information.
Abstract:
Collectible display devices and methods for operating the same are provided. The collectible display device has a display; a non-volatile memory adapted to store at least one set of pre-determined character information depicting a character, said character information including character data and character image content; a communication circuit adapted to receive predetermined character information; and a display controller adapted to receive pre-determined character information from the communication circuit, to store the received pre-determined character information in the non-volatile memory so that changes cannot be made to the pre-determined character information without external authorization and to cause the display to present at least one image based upon the character information.
Abstract:
The invention concerns an electronic platform-screen comprising (a) a globally flat case (200); electronic processing, storage and interface means housed in the case; (c) a flat screen display (110) arranged at an upper surface (202) of the case; and (d) a plurality of user-interface elements (300) for several users, distributed around the display screen and connected to the interface means housed in the case. The invention also concerns a method for controlling clearance for executing downloaded programmes such as games. The invention is applicable in particular to electronic games involving several players.
Abstract:
A computer apparatus with a software execution judging function for allowing the user to execute only a program adequate to the user. When, for example, the user desires to execute a game soft on a game machine (1), a software execution judging device (5) is attached to the game machine (1). In the software execution judging device (5), the user's date of birth, the use limited time of the game soft, the continuous use limited time, the use inhibition time zone, the mental maturity of the user, and so forth are set. The game machine (1) judges whether or not it is proper to execute the game soft on the basis of the preset information recorded in the software execution judging device (5), and executes the soft only when it has judged it is proper.
Abstract:
This method advantageously utilizes the resources of software programs stored in the external memory connected to the hardware main frame. The circuit device is for implementing this method. The method comprises an initialization routine (X) including a step of switching the bank of BIOS-ROM (13) in the main frame (1) having a CPU (11) to the bank of software programs stored in an external storage (2), a security check routine (Y) in which whether or not a software program is correct is checked, a routine (Z) in which a software program is executed by the CPU (11) in the main frame (1) when the software program is judged to be correct in the security check routine (Y). By resetting the CPU (11) while the bank is at least on the side of the software program which is stored in the external storage (2), the CPU (11) is released from the security check routine (Y), and can execute this software program by the routine (Z).
Abstract:
A data processing system for carrying out a collation operation at the starting time by using musical data as collation data, and judging the adaptability of an optical information recording medium. In a CD-ROM (4), first musical collation data are recorded with various kinds of data required for a game. In a ROM (302) in an outer memory cartridge (3), second musical collation data and a collation program are stored. A CPU (101a) is adapted to execute the collation program at the time of starting a system and collate the first musical collation data read out from the CD-ROM (4) with the second musical collation data read out from ROM (302). The CPU allows the execution of the game program only when these data agree with each other.
