The present invention relates to an angle carrier in which angles generally used as a reinforcement material for the hull in shipbuilders are coated with primer for anti-corrosion, the coated primer is removed from the end part (lcm) of the angle so as to enhance the welding strength, and then a plurality of angles with the end part primer removed can be automatically packed with them layered for delivery. The present invention is constructed such that the primer coating treatment apparatus for primer coating on the outer surface of the angle, the primer removing apparatus for removing the coated primer from the end part of the angle, i.e., from a part to be welded, and the packing treatment apparatus are formed in one line, thereby improving the working efficiency.

This invention relates to the control of thickness of a coating applied to the surface of a sheet material. The invention provides an air knife assembly (15) including a body (14) for mounting adjacent to a sheet material which in use is moved past the body in a longitudinal direction, and a mouth (16) facing the sheet material and extending laterally with respect to the direction of movement of the sheet. The mouth (16) is defined by a pair of facing lips (17, 18) which are movable relative to the body (14). A moving means (41) is operable to move the lips (17, 18) relative to the air knife body (14). The assembly further includes a means for distributing a fluid under pressure through the body to enter and emerge from the mouth whereby pressurised fluid emerging from the mouth operates on a coating applied to a surface of the sheet material passing the air knife to thereby control the thickness of the coating.

A system for coating a substrate with ultra-thin layers in stripes includes moving the substrate (32) through a coating station and forming a composite layer (48) including coating fluids (244, 248) and a carrier fluid (252). The composite layer (48) flows at a rate that is sufficiently high to form a continuous flowing fluid bridge of composite layer to the substrate surface and to contact the substrate with the flowing composite layer to interpose the coating layers between the substrate and the carrier fluid. The carrier fluid is removed while leaving the coating fluid deposited on the substrate as a coating layer.

A composite layer (48, 118) is formed of first and second coating fluids (34, 36; 104, 86). The substrate (32, 102) contacts the flowing composite layer to interpose the first coating fluid (34, 104) between the substrate (32, 102) and the second coating (36, 86). Verfahren zur Hohlraumkonservierung eines Hohlraums (22) einer Fahrzeugkarosserie und Vorrichtung hierfür. Bekannt ist ein Verfahren zur Hohlraumkonservierung eines Hohlraums (22) einer Fahrzeugkarosserie (10) mit erhitztem Schutzwachs, wobei zunächst Schutzwachs in den Hohlraum (22) der Fahrzeugkarosserie (10) eingebracht wird und dort die Fahrzeugkarosserieoberflächen mit einer Schutzwachsschicht (60) schützend bedeckt. Vorgeschlagen wird, nach der Zuführung des Schutzwachses eine Beeinflussung der Schutzwachsschicht (60) durch Zuführung von heißem Gas in den Hohlraum erfolgen zu lassen.
