Abstract:
A lubricant composition for lubricating an interface between an inner surface of a tire and a safety support ring in a run-flat tire system that includes a lubricating agent selected from glycerol, polyalkylene glycol or combinations thereof and a thixotropic agent. The thixotropic agent is an organoclay comprising a mineral clay mixture treated with an alkyl quaternary ammonium salt, wherein the mineral clay mixture comprises at least one of sepiolite, palygorskite and a smectite and wherein a combined amount of palygorskite and sepiolite in the mineral clay mixture is between about 50 wt. % and about 100 wt. % with a balance of the mineral clay mixture being essentially the smectite. The lubricating agent may also be selected from a copolymer that is a mixture of alkylene oxides, preferably a mixture of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide.
Abstract:
The rolling bearing of the invention to be incorporated in the compressor for fuel cell system comprises a fluorine-based grease containing a fluororesin and a fluorine-based oil, a urea grease containing a urea compound and a synthetic oil or a lithium complex grease containing a lithium complex and a synthetic oil encapsulated therein. In this arrangement, the grease deterioration of the rolling bearing incorporated in the compressor for force-feeding various fluids between machines can be prevented, making it possible to provide a fuel cell system which can maintain stable operation over an extended period of time.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a friction control composition comprising a binder a rheological control agent, and optionally a lubricant. The liquid friction control composition may also comprise other components a wetting agent, a consistency modifier, and a preservative. The liquid friction control compositions may be used to modify the interfacial friction characteristics in sliding and rolling-sliding contact such as steel wheel-rail systems including mass transit and freight systems. A method of reducing lateral force, reducing energy consumption, or controlling friction between a metal surface and a second metal surface by applying the composition to metal surface, for example a top of rail or wheel, is also provided. The composition may be sprayed onto the rail surface.

A grease-like silicone composition comprising at least a liquid organopolysiloxane comprising siloxane units represented by the formula R2SiO2/2, siloxane units represented by the formula RSiO3/2, and siloxane units represented by the formula R3SiO1/2 and a thickening agent. A grease-like silicone composition is provided that is capable of containing a large amount of thickening agent and possesses superior heat resistance.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a threaded component for a seizure-resistant tubular threaded joint wherein a lubricating substance is deposited in a thin film on at least the surface of the threads of the threading, said surface being treated to adsorb said lubricating substance. The lubricating substance consists of a homogeneous mixture of a) a thickening agent; b) a set of extreme-pressure additives physically and chemically compatible with the thickening agent and comprising at least an extreme-pressure additive with chemical action called chemical EP additive and capable of being used at Hertz pressures not less than 1000 Mpa's; c) an oil. The proportions of the constituents of the lubricating substance are selected such that said lubricating substance has a consistency capable of ensuring a self-induced and film-forming lubricating process. The invention also concerns a method for producing the thin film.

Abstract:
Gas contaminants generated from the grease of bearings operating in a magnetic disk device adhere to the magnetic head and causing stiction and magnetic head crash. Such bearings are typically spindle bearings and pivot bearings. In operation, heat is generated that causes the bearing grease to generate the gases. By heat treating the grease, slow evaporating substances of hydrocarbon compounds with carbons of C9 to C13 in the grease are reduced to not more than 0.001 wt. % of the grease. The grease can then be used to lubricate the bearings. The heat treatment is performed at a temperature of 60.degree. to 100.degree. C. at a pressure of 10.sup.-3 to 10.sup.-8 torr. The assembled, lubricated bearings can be heat treated separately from the magnetic disk device or the heat treatment can take place after the bearings have been assembled in the magnetic disk device.
