Abstract:
A mandrel lubricant for use in the manufacture of seamless tubes is described, which mandrel lubricant is composed of graphite, clay minerals from the class of smectites, a polysaccharide and, if required, a surfactant. The mandrel lubricant is applied in the form of an aqueous dispersion to mandrels which have passed through the cooling bath.
Abstract:
An electric submersible motor is provided that includes a plurality of rotors and bearings mounted on a shaft, and a stator external to said rotors. A running clearance is located between an inner diameter of the stator and external diameter of the rotors, and includes a lubricating oil that includes a base hydrocarbon oil and a plurality of nanoparticles. Also provided is an improved lubricant oil and method of preparation thereof are provided. The lubricant oil includes a hydrocarbon containing base oil and a plurality of nanoparticles. The nanoparticles may be present in an amount up to 30% by volume.
Abstract:
A solid lubricant and composition useful for lubricating the flanges of locomotive wheels, railcar wheels, rail track and in applications where it is desirable to reduce friction when metal contacts metal. The solid lubricant having from about twenty-five percent to about seventy percent by volume of a polymeric carrier, about five to seventy-five percent by volume of organic and inorganic extreme pressure additives, about zero to twenty percent by volume synthetic extreme pressure anti-wear liquid oil, and about zero to one percent by volume optical brightener.
Abstract:
At least one kind of coating modifier selected from polyamidimide resin, epoxysilane and epoxy resin, and at least one kind of hard particles selected from silicon nitride and alumina are impregnated into a dry coating lubricant. The coating layer of a dry coating lubricant is formed on the sliding surface of the base material of a sliding member, with the surface roughness of this coating layer set to up to 3 μmRz in a ten point height of irregularities. The coating layer of a dry coating lubricant is formed on the sliding surface of the base material of a sliding member, the coating layer being formed in a film thickness of at least 10 μm on at least part of the sliding surface of the base material.
Abstract:
he present invention provides compositions and methods for the coating and/or ballistic conditioning of firearm projectiles and firearm components including gun barrels, firearm chambers, fully assembled cartridges, shotgun shells, shotgun wads, shot capsules and sabots with molybdenum disulfide. The composition comprises powdered molybdenum disulfide suspended in a carrier comprising a volatile solvent and a binder selected from cellulosic-, alkyd- and acrylic-resins. Methods for the conditioning of firearm bores by the formation of a hardened layer comprising a product of the reaction or interaction of molybdenum disulfide with materials in the barrel bore are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A lubricant for hot rolling used when high-Cr stainless steel is hot rolled, the lubricant being supplied continuously at least while the hot rolling of high-Cr stainless steel is done, to the surface, which contacts the material to be rolled, of a working roll, the lubricant being obtained by dispersing 10-40 wt.% of iron hydroxide powder having an average particle diameter of not less than 0.1 mu m and less than 1 mu m into a viscous aqueous solution produced by dissolving a thickener, which comprises water-soluble high polymer, in water, the lubricant having apparent viscosity of 1000-50000 cP.
Abstract:
Thin impermeable, surface hardened, corrosion-resistant, durable, dry lubricant surface finishes are provided as well as surface finished products and methods for the production thereof. The surface finishes comprise particulate mixtures of sulfur containing metallic compounds and fluorocarbon polymers and are applied to surfaces of substrates such as metallic surfaces.
Abstract:
A rheologically controlled glass lubricant for hot metal working comprises a glass powder, a binder, a rheological agent, and a weetting and viscosity modifier. These materials may be dispersed in a carrier. The lubricant is made by mixing the constituent elements, milling the mixture, and stabilizing the milled mixture. The lubricant can be used in a forging operation by coating a metal part with the lubricant, heating the coated part, placing the coated heated part in a forge, and rapidly applying sufficient pressure to deform the coated metal part into a desired shape.
Abstract:
Composite bearings employing cold forming and sintering techniques. Improvements in compositions for impregnating porous layers of composite bearings are provided comprising lead or lead alloy, perfluorinated polymer, particulate thermoplastic polymer and clay in particular proportions. When such materials are formed into bearings and subsequently sintered, improved resistance to stripping and wear is provided.
