Abstract:
A fixation device formed from a single length of filament includes a locking splice forming a first loop disposed at a first end of the fixation device. The device also includes an intermediate segment fixed to and extending away from the locking splice. Further included in the device is a tortuous segment fixed to and extending away from the locking splice. The tortuous segment is slidably engaged to the intermediate segment at a plurality of spaced apart locations along the length of the tortuous segment.
Abstract:
A tension absorber produced from a flexible strand which is only loadable under tension and which tension absorber possesses the advantages of a chain formed from strand material but can be easily and cost-effectively produced. The strand is folded into three or more loop sections. Proceeding from the beginning of the strand a succeeding loop section arranged offset in the direction of the end of the strand follows each preceding loop section arranged offset in the direction of the beginning, until the last loop section has been reached. Each loop section has a loop which encloses a loop opening. At least one bow is formed from the strand by guiding a succeeding loop section by its loop through the loop opening of a preceding loop section arranged adjacent to it.
Abstract:
A linkable loop rope system that includes at least two loop rope assemblies fastened together by a coupling mechanism operable to releaseably couple the rope assemblies for use in securing large and/or irregular shaped objects on a transport vehicle or a tarp or cover on such objects during transport.
Abstract:
A rope (3) is described for a tropospheric aeolian generator (1) composed, in length, of at least one first sector (4) adapted to resist to repeated flexure cycles, having a safety coefficient (S1), a diameter D(b1) and an aerodynamic resistance coefficient (CD1); at least one second sector (5) adapted to resist to repeated traction cycles with great load, having a safety coefficient S2
Abstract:
A steel cord has a multi-twist structure in which N (N=2 to 8) strands 2 are twisted, each strand 2 being formed by twisting a plurality of element wires 1 and having a substantially elliptical cross-section, wherein d1/d2>1.08 is satisfied, where the major diameter of the strand 2 is represented by d1 and the minor diameter is represented by d2, and εe defined by the following equation: εc=√(−b/2+√(b2/4−c))−1 (in the equation, b represents −1+π2(−4R2+d2)/P2, c represents π2d2k(4π2R2+P2)/P4, R represents (D−d)/2, k represents tan2(π/2−π/N), and d represents (d1+d2)/2) satisfies εc>0.005, where the diameter of a circle circumscribing the cord is represented by D (mm) and the twist pitch of the cord is represented by P (mm).
Abstract:
A suspension and transmission device for use with an elevator system comprises one or more strips that provide load carrying, transmission or traction, and load carrying redundancy or safety functions for the elevator system. In one version a single strip comprised of polymer and composite materials provides these functions. In another version multiple strips comprised of polymer and composite materials provide these functions. In another version, a strip comprises a hollow interior portion. In another version one or more strips incorporate materials that can be detected when using the strip to monitor the condition of the one or more strips.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a chain comprising a plurality of first links (100) interconnected with a plurality of adjacent links, the first links comprising polymeric multifilament yarns (110) and having a thickness (Formula (I)), at least at the portion where they interconnect with the adjacent links wherein said adjacent links have a thickness (Formula (II)) at least at the portion where they interconnect with the first links and wherein the ratio (Formula (II)/Formula (I)) is at least 1.2. The invention further relates to the use of the chain for storing, securing, and handling cargo, e.g. in lifting, hauling and rigging.
Abstract:
A pneumatic radial tire is disclosed. This tire is reinforced with steel cords, each of which has such a flat or elliptic section that two or three strands, each strand being produced by twisting plural filaments, are arranged in parallel with each other so as to make the twisting directions of the adjoining strands opposite to each other to form a core and plural filaments are twisted around the core and wrapped with a spiral filament.
