Abstract:
A method for adjusting tension in springs (57) mounted upon rotatable shafts is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of, applying a first and a second wrench (1, 1') for splined engagement with a collar (50) of said shaft so as to hold the collar (50) against movement in an undesired direction. The collar (50) being mechanically connected to at least one spring (57). Furthermore, the step of positioning an axial locking device (7), said axial locking device (7) being provided on at least one of said wrenches (1, 1'), to said collar (50) thereby forming an axial locking engagement of said wrenches (1, 1') to said collar (50) and adjusting tension in said at least one spring (57) by winding said collar (50) with at least one of said wrenches (1, 1') until an appropriate tension of the spring (57) is achieved. It is also disclosed a wrench assembly (1) and a collar system (50) suitable for performing the method.
Abstract:
To reduce the lift travel with a simple end position-recognition device which is reliable even on emergency manual operation and can be retrofitted, a radially projecting cam (2.7) connected to a drive shaft (2) of the drive unit engages during one revolution from tooth to tooth with the inner toothing of a ratchet (11) rotatable about and concentric with a spindle (11.1) offset parallel to the drive shaft (2). The cam (2.7) has an axial lift such that it can mesh with the ratchet (11) even with an axial shift of the drive shaft (2) in the event of emergency actuation.
Abstract:
The concept of being able to turn window glass space into a virtual exterior wall with the touch of a switch is the conceptual basis of this device. These six inch thick, exterior mounted, Window Enclosure panels are designed to close securely with their insulated frame in order to optimize energy efficiency, and achieve unprecedented building security. These fully automated panels can be programmed to close from dusk to dawn for example, or when the building is expected to be unoccupied - away at work, on vacation, etc. And security cameras and other devices are readily integrated, permitting the panels to respond to weather and security events when nobody's home, such as perimeter intrusion, barometric anomalies, target temperatures (beneficial or adverse), etc. As well, most models act as an awning in the raised position, and can be quickly adjusted to shield direct sunlight, or to fully harvest it, naturally.

Abstract:
A lock (57) for a door assist system (12) for use on a vehicle door (10) and connected to a vehicle to lock the door into an open position includes a door handle (40) having a first operable position, a second operable position and a released position, a pneumatic actuator (28) having an actuator rod (32), where the actuator rod is extendable when the door handle is in the first operable position and the actuator rod is retractable when the door handle is in the second operable position. The door assist system also includes a slide block (34) displaceable by the actuator rod of the pneumatic actuator. A lock (57) also includes a door link (54) connecting the slide block (34) to the vehicle frame. As the slide block is displaced away from the pneumatic actuator (28), the door link opens the door (10) with respect to the vehicle. The lock also includes a hydraulic locking actuator (58) with a hydraulic rod (66) extendable and retractable with the slide block (34). When the door handle (40) is in the released position, the actuator rod (32) is prevented from extension and retraction and locks the slide block (34) at the current location, preventing opening or closing of the door (10).
Abstract:
A security window assembly, for a window opening, having a frame in which are received sliding and security members, the security member having a ventilating part and a non- ventilating part, the sliding member being slidably moveable relative to the security member between a first position in which it exposes the ventilating part, to allow passage of air therethrough, and a second position in which it covers the ventilating part, wherein the sliding member is disposed outwardly of the security member and is operatively connected to a handle disposed inwardly of the security member, for use in effecting movement of the sliding member between the first and second positions.
Abstract:
Presented herein is a safety apparatus for a door that is hingedly set in a doorframe and is equipped with at least one rotatable door handle, said safety apparatus comprising: a collar that fits around a portion of the door handle; a fastener that holds the collar in place; and an arm that extends out from the collar, terminating beyond the leading edge of the door; wherein, disposing the safety apparatus on the door handle with a portion of the arm is positioned between the door and the door frame prevents the door from closing against the door frame; and rotating the door handle with the safety apparatus disposed thereon also causes the safety apparatus to be repositioned, allowing the door to be fully closed.
Abstract:
A mounting system for a closure which enables the closure to be opened from at least two sides. The closure includes handles mounted on the two sides and is mounted to a frame which the closure closes with the at least two sides. The closure only be opened from one of the sides at a time. The mounting system includes a locking and releasing mechanism on each of the sides, at least one hinge attached to each of the respective sides, a control bar attached to each hinge, the bar substantially locked into a respective control system, and a control circuit comprising a sensor and a relay, associated with each of the handles, whereby if a person opens the closure from one side, the sensor on that side activates the corresponding relay to operate the control system on that side of the closure and the hinge on that side is retracted.
Abstract:
An electric roller door drive system (10) is described enabling also selective manual operation of the associated door by means of a manual drive wheel (26) coupled to a power output (18) (which the motor (16) can also drive) so as to enable manual movement of the door between the open and closed positions. A clutch mechanism (30) has a normal default condition and an electrically initiated motor drive enabling condition, the clutch mechanism in the normal default condition enabling the manual operation and, in its motor drive enabling condition, functioning so as to firstly disable the manual drive mechanism so that manual rotation of the manual drive wheel (26) does not transfer drive through the power output (18) to move the door; and secondly enable operation of the drive motor. The clutch mechanism is electrically operated to change from its normal default condition to its motor drive enabling condition when the electric drive mechanism is to be operated to drive the associated door between its open and closed positions. The manual drive wheel (26) in the normal default condition of the clutch is biased by a biasing spring means (31) into its operative position, and electrornagnetically operable displacement means (41) is operative upon supply of electric power thereto to displace the manual drive wheel against the bias of the biasing means away from its operative position and into its idling position.
