Abstract:
The plunger pump according to the present invention discharges fuel by reciprocation of a plunger, and comprises metallic diaphragm type dampers, provided at a fuel inlet side and a fuel outlet side, respectively, for reducing pressure pulsation of fuel. Each metallic diaphragm type damper comprises a pressure chamber for receiving fuel pressure, a back pressure chamber into which gas is charged, and a metallic diaphragm for defining the pressure chamber and the back pressure chamber. Since the metallic diaphragm type dampers are provided at the fuel inlet side and the fuel outlet side, respectively, noise and vibration caused by pressure pulsation are reduced at the fuel inlet side and the fuel outlet side. Also, since the diaphragms are metallic diaphragms, deterioration thereof generated by fuel liquid and back pressure gas is low, reliability is high, and the lifetime is long.
Abstract:
An electromagnetic pump having an electromagnet carried by the housing external to the fluid chambers, and an armature moveable in the housing having a pole magnetically attracted by the electromagnet and a piston to force fluid out of the chambers and through the pump outlet. A path provides controlled bypass for bubbles in the fluid around the armature piston between the fluid pumping chamber and the fluid receiving chamber only during the return stroke of the armature. Fluid inertia is reduced by an outlet orifice in the path of fluid flow from the pump outlet and by a bypass orifice for fluid flow in the bypass path, the orifices being provided either individually or in combination depending upon the fluid flow characteristics of the system including the pump. An accumulator in the fluid flow path between the pump outlet and a catheter leading away from the pump alleviates inertial and viscous effects arising from the catheter. The armature pole has a fluid-contacting section of material which is compatible with and corrosion resistant to the fluid, which can be a body of magnetic material within a titanium enclosure or a body of chrome-molybdenum-iron alloy.
Abstract:
A feature of the invention resides in a plating arrangement for a piston that reciprocates within a cylinder. The piston includes a generally cylindrical piston body. The piston body includes a piston head with a nickel plating and a piston skirt with a tin plating provided at the circumference of the piston body. At least one piston ring groove with a molybdenum disulfide plating is provided in the piston skirt at an upper portion of the piston body. A piston ring with a chromium and resin layer is disposed in each of the piston ring grooves. The piston body includes a piston pin hole that defines an inner diameter surface of the piston. The inner diameter surface has a molybdenum disulfide plating. The plating arrangement for the piston enhances lubrication of the piston. Additionally, the present invention includes a lubricating system for a two-cycle, crankcase compression, diesel engine, comprising a cylinder block and head assembly, the cylinder block and head assembly includes a plurality of cylinders, a piston disposed in each of said cylinders so as to reciprocate in an axial direction of said cylinders, and the oil includes a polyisobutane additive for further enhancing lubrication of the piston.
Abstract:
An electromagnetic pump comprising a housing having fluid receiving and pumping chambers in communication with an inlet and outlet, respectively, an electromagnet carried by the housing external to the fluid chambers thereof, and an armature movable in the housing having a pole portion magnetically attracted by the electromagnet and a piston portion to force fluid out of the chambers and through the pump outlet. A path provides controlled bypass for bubbles in the fluid around the armature piston portion between the fluid pumping chamber and the fluid receiving chamber only during the return stroke of the armature. The armature pole portion has a fluid-contacting section of material which is compatible with and corrosion resistant to the fluid, which can be a body of magnetic material within a titanium enclosure or a body of chrome-molybdenum-iron alloy. The check valve and inlet are so arranged that the pump displacement can be reduced without reducing the bubble pumping capability of the pump.
Abstract:
The combustion chamber structure having a combustion chamber almost at the center of the piston is installed in a cavity formed in the piston body with a heat insulating layer interposed therebetween. The combustion chamber structure and the piston body are joined by a joining member. The combustion chamber structure is formed with a nozzle insertion hole and communication holes. The joining member is made of a material with a thermal expansion coefficient intermediate between those of the piston body and the combustion chamber structure, or of almost the same kind of material as the piston body. Alternatively, the combustion chamber structure forms a piston head portion and the piston body forms a piston skirt portion. The lower surface of the piston head portion is formed as a tapered surface that is inclined toward the periphery. The upper surface of the piston skirt portion is also formed as a tapered surface that extends along the opposing tapered surface of the piston head portion. The lower surface of the outer periphery of the piston head portion and the upper surface of the outer periphery of the piston skirt portion are in firm contact with each other. The combustion chamber structure of this invention is so constructed that a rich air-fuel mixture is generated in the upper part of the combustion chamber and that the mixture is quickly ejected into the cylinder chamber to reduce the combustion period.
Abstract:
A pump for pumping shear sensitive material comprising a housing having an internal displacement chamber and a displacement rod. The displacement rod is reciprocable within the displacement chamber and the displacement chamber having an aperture through which the displacement rod is reciprocated. The aperture being sealed with respect no the displacement chamber by the displacement rod and an annular seal surrounding the displacement rod. The displacement chamber having an inlet opposite the aperture and an outlet radially disposed to the longitudinal axis of the displacement rod and in close proximity to the annular seal.
Abstract:
A fuel pump for a vehicle includes a brushless motor for operating this fuel pump, and a control circuit for the brushless motor is contained in the fuel pump. Difficulties such as a cutting of the wiring due to an electrolytic corrosion of electrically-conductive portions, and a short-circuiting thereof, are prevented. A pump portion, a motor portion and a discharge portion are provided in a housing of the fuel pump. The motor portion includes a rotor and a stator portion. The stator portion is molded by a resin material into a cylindrical shape with a closed bottom. The stator portion supports a shaft of the rotor. Stator coils are molded in a peripheral wall portion of the stator portion, and a container containing the control circuit is molded in the bottom wall portion of the stator portion. The stator coils, copper wires extending therefrom, and terminals from the control circuit are completely molded in the above resin material. With this arrangement, the stator coils, the control circuit, and the electrically-conductive portions extending between the control circuit and the stator coils are not exposed to the fuel at all, and therefore the above difficulties are prevented.
