Abstract:
An apparatus and method for protecting an inner radial surface of a housing of a turbomachine from corrosion. The method includes tapering the inner radial surface of the housing and a corresponding outer radial surface of a corrosion-resistant liner, and heating the housing to increase a diameter of the inner radial surface of the housing. The method also includes inserting the corrosion-resistant liner at least partially into the housing, and attaching the corrosion-resistant liner to the inner radial surface of the housing using a solid-state bonding process.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for adhering a preformed polymer liner to the surface of a pipe by induction heating the pipe. The liner may comprise a fluoropolymer. The liner may be applied either to the interior surface or the exterior surface of the pipe. The invention is particularly useful for adhering a liner to the interior surface of an oil well pipe. Thus with the induction heating process of present invention, it is possible to adhere a preformed liner to the interior surface of an oil well pipe which is capable of reducing-to-eliminating the deposition (buildup) of one or more of the asphaltenes, paraffin wax, and inorganic scale on the interior surface of the oil pipe. Preferably, this reduction is at least 40%, preferably at least 50% or more, for at least one of these materials as compared to the unlined oil pipe, and more preferably at least 40% for all of them. In one preferred embodiment of the process, the peel strength of the preformed liner adhered to the surface of the pipe is at least ten pounds force per inch (10 Ibf/ in). In other preferred embodiments of the process, either a primer or an adhesive aid is used in adhering the preformed liner to the surface of the pipe.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a vessel, in particular a pipe, especially an oil pipe, having a preformed film adhered onto the interior surface of the pipe, the interior surface of the preformed film reducing the deposition of at least one of asphaltenes, paraffin wax, and inorganic scale by at least 40% as compared to the interior surface of said oil pipe without said preformed film being present. In a preferred embodiment, the preformed film is adhered to the interior surface of the pipe with a primer layer with an optional barrier layer between the primer layer and the preformed film.
Abstract:
In a flow measuring device having a measuring tube with a sensor arrangement and an evaluation unit for ascertaining a flow, a sensor arranged on or in a measuring tube having a tube wall of a metal support material and a first ply of a corrosion resistant material ply that protects the metal support material from corrosive measured media and is placed on an inner surface of the tube wall; or a tube wall of a corrosion resistant material, wherein in the measuring tube on the side of the first ply facing the medium or on the side of the measuring tube wall of the corrosion resistant, synthetic material facing the medium a ply or second ply is arranged for reducing mechanical loading, of the synthetic material by the measured medium, wherein the ply or second ply has a greater hardness than the first ply or the tube wall.
Abstract:
A flexible pipe body for transporting production fluids containing one or more acidic components comprises a fluid-retaining inner polymeric barrier layer and at least one layer including a metallic component and arranged outside said barrier layer, wherein said polymeric barrier layer comprises a first, inner, sub-layer of a polymeric barrier material through which at least some of said acidic component may permeate and a second sub-layer formed on said first sub-layer including a material capable of reacting chemically with said acidic component to form reaction products which are non-corrosive to said metallic component.

Abstract:
Embodiments of a method and a mould for producing a concrete pipe comprising a basic body made of concrete and a plastic inner pipe for conducting a liquid. The method comprises introducing a mould core into the plastic inner pipe, introducing the plastic inner pipe into an outer mould and pouring concrete into an intermediate space between the outer mould and the plastic inner pipe to form the basic body. After the concrete has solidified, the plastic inner pipe remains as inner formwork in the basic body made of concrete and the mould core is removed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a preformed liner of tetrafluoroethylene/perfluoro(alkyl vinyl ether) copolymer adhered to the surface of a pipe, and in particular, an oil well pipe, without the need for either a primer layer or an adhesive. The liner comprises an effective amount of metal powder which provides adhesion between the liner and the surface of the pipe. The present invention also relates to a process for making such pipe, where in a preferred embodiment, the liner is co-extruded to form an inner layer and an outer layer. This co-extrusion embodiment is particularly useful in applications where high purity is necessary. In this case, the inner layer comprises an effective amount of metal powder and the outer layer is pure tetrafluoroethylene/perfluoro(alkyl vinyl ether) copolymer.
