Abstract:
A system and method for calculating harmonizing colors based on a reference color. In a first embodiment, the invention includes (a) defining a reference color in a uniform color space, (b) converting the hue of the reference color from the uniform color space to an artists color wheel, (c) determining harmonizing colors for the reference color within the artists color wheel, (d) converting the hues of the harmonizing colors from the artists color wheel to the uniform color space, and (e) displaying the harmonizing color information. In a second embodiment, a brown region is defined for colors having red/orange/yellow hues and low chroma values. Additional harmonizing colors are determined when either the reference color or one of the harmonizing colors falls within the brown region.
Abstract:
A method for simulating the final finish of a multi-component finish material comprises submitting or receiving a request describing a desired single or multicolor surface appearance in a finish simulator to generate one or more simulated appearance samples, obtaining feedback on said simulated appearance sample and, if necessary, modifying said sample to simulate said desired surface appearance. The finish simulator comprises a library of finish templates that have been produced and software or processing means to apply rules to adjust the simulated finish for known changes in chemistry, composition, and application conditions. In addition, the appearance of an actual multicolor sample is reproduced by separating the sample into areas of different individual colors, identifying the individual color of each of said areas, translating said individual area colors into color values that correspond to those in a database of colors that have been produced, and searching the database for existing colors that are close matches for those in the sample. The final finish of the closely matching colors is preferably simulated and assessed electronically using a finish simulator. The method of the present invention reduces the total time necessary to generate a multi-component color finish to match a given sample and can eliminate the need for making trial finishes in assessing color finishes for matching.
Abstract:
Method for determining a desired colour of a first segment for forming a portion of a set of teeth on a desired position within the set of teeth, wherein the method comprises:
determining the colour of at least a second segment within the set of teeth, characterised in that, the method further comprises:
determining the position of the at least second segment within the set of teeth; and determining the colour of the first segment according to a predetermined relationship between the colour and the position of the at least second segment and the desired position for the first segment.
Abstract:
A process of identifying skin color categories based on skin color undertones of an individual person. The process involving using a color measuring device to determine the value of a yellow-blue factor of the skin color of an individual person, said yellow-blue factor being inversely weighted by a function of the lightness of the color. Once this is done, the skin color of the individual person is classified into one of plural categories of skin color based solely upon the location of the determined value in one of pre-established plural numerical value ranges defining said categories.
Abstract:
A system and a method for color optimization with a distal server displaying a virtual color image in the form of an image file having individual color values on its website, and with a proximal computer connected to the server and having a display unit, the computer displaying on its display unit the virtual color image of the server by way of an application program, products on the display unit in the most optimum colors possible. The system and method include a reference card having several differently colored translucent reference areas besides a transparent or translucent area or an opening and an application program that starts a routine on the server and/or on the computer.
Abstract:
The disclosure is related to a décor harmony service (DHS) that facilitates mapping of colors from a color palette to décor accessories in a setting, e.g., a room, such that the décor accessories, when arranged together, appear harmonious to a user. For example, using harmony-distribution rules, the DHS maps a set of décor accessories occupying “60%” of the area of a room to a main color of a color palette, a second set of décor accessories occupying “30%” to a feature color and a third set of décor accessories occupying “10%” to an accent color. The DHS generates a representation of the room, e.g., an image of the room, with the décor accessories having the assigned colors. The DHS facilitates a user to use the generated image for finding and purchasing décor products that match with a décor accessory in the generated image.
Abstract:
Color selection and display methods and devices in which colors can be displayed according to color harmony and color emotion and feedback obtained on color emotion and color harmony evoked by selected color and/or color combinations.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a method of managing color. A submission created by a product vendor is received. The submission is analyzed by a third party by, at least, electronic means. The analysis of the submission by the third party is communicated to a retailer.
Abstract:
A device and method for harmonizing color. The color harmonizing device of the present invention includes a plurality of color representations defined as base colors. Each base color is associated with a complementary color representation, a pair of split complementary color representations, and a pair of triadic match color representations. The complementary color representation, each split complementary color representation, and each triadic match color representation are associated with a quality such as a personality trait or mood. Each color representation, including the base color, is divided into a spectrum of colors based upon hue. Each color of the spectrum of the base color may be matched with the colors in the spectrums of the complementary color representation, the pair of split complementary color representations, and the pair of triadic match color representations based upon a desire for one of the qualities.
