The remote controller includes an input interface; a communicator; a storage; and a processor configured to: transmit, to the display apparatus via the communicator, a signal indicating control instructions based on a user input received through the input interface, receive, from the display apparatus via the communicator, information related to a first control code for controlling a first source device of the at least one source device based on the control instructions, identify the first control code from a first control code set stored in the storage based on the information related to the first control code, and control the communicator to transmit a first control signal indicating the first control code to the first source device.

The present disclosure, pertaining to the field of terminal technologies, relates to a method and apparatus for operating and controlling a smart device. The method includes: preparing (S201, S302) to switch a control relationship when a first gesture action is detected; determining (S202, S303) a target controlled device when a second gesture action is detected; establishing (S203, S304) a control relationship with the target controlled device; acquiring (S204) a third gesture action; and controlling (S205, S305) the target controlled device to perform an operation corresponding to the third gesture action. According to the present disclosure, the control relationship may be switched to the target controlled device only by means of gesture actions, and operation and control of the target controlled device may be implemented by means of gesture actions. Therefore, the operation and control manner is simpler, and flexibility of the operation and control manner is also improved.

A controlling device (10) location determination system and method. A controlling device (10) such as a remote control has programming for transmitting a signal response to a plurality of control environments (100, 130, 140), each environment including a signaling device. Each signaling device in receipt of the signal request sends a signal response having a unique ID (associated with location definitions relating to the environment from which he signaling device is located) which is chosen to be characteristically attenuated by the surroundings of the environment (i.e., IR signals in a room). Because the controlling device (10) can only be in one environment at a given time, and given the attenuation characteristics of the signal response from each signaling device, only one signal response will be received by the controlling device (10) in each environment (100). Location definitions associated with the received unique ID may be used by programming in the controlling device to recall saved devices states, commands sets, macros, and even to dynamically generate commands based on the location information.

The present application relates to a remote control device (30) for controlling a plurality of controllable devices (11-15). The remote control device (30) comprises at least two spaced apart antennas (34, 35) for receiving a radio signal from a same positioning device (20), a sending unit (32) for sending a control signal, and a control unit (31). The control unit (31) is configured to determine a position information of the remote control device (30) in relation to the positioning device (20) based on the radio signal, to select a controllable device of the plurality of controllable devices (11-15) depending on the position information, and to send a control information for controlling the selected controllable device via the control signal with the sending unit (32) to the selected controllable device.
