Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To aim at offering an image input apparatus and an image forming apparatus which can shorten the time duration from pre-scaning to regular reading. SOLUTION: A system controller detects a color information of an original concerned using three line sensors which have arranged a colored filter to a light-receiving side of four-line CCD sensor, before inputting a picture of the original, decides whether the original is a monochrome or a color from this detected color information, inputs the picture of the original using a line sensor which does not arrange the colored filter on the light receiving side of the four-line CCD sensor when it is decided as a monochrome original by this decision, and can input the picture of the original using three line sensors which have arranged the colored filter on the light-receiving side of the four-line CCD sensor, when it is decided as a color original by the decision. Abstract:
There is provided an image reading apparatus wherein prior to fine scan of an original image using a line CCD sensor at high resolution, a single prescan at low resolution is performed on the scanning lines of the original image using at least two different storage times of the line CCD sensor, in order to determine the reading conditions for the fine scan at the high resolution and the conditions for correction the fine scanned image date. Irrespective of the density of a particular frame image, a single prescan suffices for detecting maximum and minimum densities as well as high-density and medium-to low density image data of appropriate precision in an appropriate and positive way. Then, image information for acquiring not only optimal reading conditions for fine scan that are associated with the density and other characteristics of the original image, but also the conditions as for correcting the captured image data processing conditions can be obtained.
Abstract:
A device and method for scanning an object on a working surface, the device comprising: a body located adjacent to the working surface; two or more cameras mounted on the body at a location elevated adjacently above the working surface for capturing images of the object on the working surface, the two or more cameras being angled such that their range of image captures overlap and the common overlapping region of the range of image captures of the two or more cameras corresponds with the size of the working surface, the two or more cameras being spaced apart such that each of the two or more cameras captures a different angle of the common overlapping region; and a processing unit capable of correcting skewed images of the working surface captured by the two or more cameras and capable of converting the images captured by the two or more cameras into a three dimensional image.
Abstract:
A method for digitally scanning images with dynamic light modulation during the scan allows optimisation of the light hitting different portions of an object to be digitised through automatic variations of the light intensity of light sources during the scan. The method comprises determining, before the scanning phase, different light emission profiles, suitable for an optimal reflection of the light on different portions of the object to be digitised, and during the scanning phase modulating the light intensity of the light sources on different portions of the object to be digitised according to said light emission profiles so that an optimisation of an image is obtained.
