Abstract:
A laser beam reflected off a polygon mirror travels below a beam portion and is reflected off a reflection mirror. The laser beam reflected off the reflection mirror is emitted through an opening formed directly below the beam portion. The beam portion is provided above the opening through leg portions. With the structure, the rigidity on the periphery of the opening can be ensured. Supporting portions for supporting the reflection mirror are reinforced by reinforcing portions, so that the reflection mirror is prevented from being vibrated. In addition, the reflection mirror is supported such that the reflection mirror does not contact the beam portion. Even when the beam portion is vibrated, the vibration is not conveyed from the beam portion to the reflection mirror.

Abstract:
When the speed of carriages that are moved in an image processing device is increased in order to accelerate the processing speed, the acquired image data is degraded due to vibrations being transmitted to the carriages from a motor which drives the carriages. The present invention provides a vibration damping mechanism for such image processing devices wherein weights are provided at selected positions on the transmission paths of the vibrations from the motor to the carriages in order to damp the vibrations. Preferably, the weights are made of a permanent magnet material and the housing is made of a material, such as steel, that is attracted by a magnet. This enables the weights to be attached at any desired positions, such as on the housing base plate, on the lower housing, and at perimeter walls of the housing which support the carriages where vibrations, without the weights, would be excessive.
Abstract:
A modularized carriage having a plurality of shock absorber struts is provided to allow a contact type image sensor module (CIS module) to contact tightly with the bottom surface side of the sheet table. The carriage has a plurality of holes formed on its bottom side. The bottom ends of the shock absorber struts are fixed to the bottom of the carriage. The shock absorber struts pass through the holes for supporting the CIS module in a manner such that the CIS module can contact tightly with the bottom surface side of the sheet table. Thus, while the CIS module is driven along the sheet table, the inventive carriage can absorb the vertical vibration of the CIS module and allow a document to stay within the scene depth of the CIS module. Since the present invention is a modularized carriage which is adaptable for various types of CIS modules and transmission mechanisms, the present invention can simplify the assembly and readjustment procedures of a CIS scanner. Moreover, the modularized carriage also helps to simplify the inner structure of the CIS scanner and reduces the size of the CIS scanner.
Abstract:
An image processor includes an inertia weight for a rotary shaft, which can be added or replaced without removing the rotary shaft from its supporting section by arranging the inertia weight mounted on the rotary shaft so as to stabilize the rotation of the rotary shaft. The vertical weight is formed by splitting a member having an almost cylindrical shape along a plane including the longitudinal axis. A through-hole and a female threaded aperture are formed in joining faces of the split member. The pair of the weight parts can be added and detached from the driving shaft by a securing screw extended into the through-hole and threaded aperture.
Abstract:
The improved transporting apparatus for scanning exposure of a recording material as it is fixed on an exposure mount which is moved by means of a screw transmission mechanism is characterized in that the exposure mount for transporting the recording material is composed of a platen for carrying the recording material and a transport plate that holds the platen and which engages the screw transmission mechanism, with the platen and the transport plate being designed to be capable of relative displacement by small amounts, preferably in a non-contact relationship. Optionally, urging members may be provided to combine with the platen and the transport plate to form a vibration system that composes a vibration filter. The apparatus effectively absorbs not only vibrations that originate from the drive system to be transmitted to the exposure mount via the travelling nut of the screw transmission mechanism, as exemplified by erratic rotation or vibrations of the motor and the screw shaft of the screw transmission mechanism, but also vibrations due to externally applied forces and, hence, highly precise scanned transport of the recording material can be accomplished while suffering from very small levels of unevenness in the speed of its transport that will occur on account of those unwanted vibrations.

A reading mechanism of a plane reading device is provided with a rack and pinion drive mechanism with a step motor as the driving source. Backlash and vibration are prevented by applying a biasing force on the reading mechanism in a direction opposite that of the movement thereof.
Abstract:
In an image scanning system in which a light beam is deflected by an optical deflector to effect the main scanning across a recording medium while the subscanning is effected by mechanically moving the recording medium, the optical components for scanning the light beam across the recording medium and the mechanical components for moving the recording medium in the sub-scanning direction are all mounted on a single frame. The single frame is mounted by way of a vibration insulator on an outer frame structure of the system on which means for feeding the recording medium to the scanning position and for discharging it therefrom is mounted.
