    Abstract: Thermal insulating body has plate elements made from insulating material with an outer edge and an inner edge and are structured so that the outer edges delimit one part of the outer mold (21) and the inner edges (17, 18, 19) delimit one part of the hollow inner mold (23) when the plate elements are joined together. Each edge is composed of planar edge sections and/or curved edge sections with casing lines running over the thickness. The other part of the outer mold of the insulating body is formed by the planar or curved plate elements of the outer plate elements. The other part of the hollow inner mold is formed by a recess in the inner surface or by the inner surface of the corresponding plate elements. An independent claim is also included for a process for the production of a thermal insulating body. Preferred Features: The casing lines of the edge sections running over the thickness of the plate elements are curved casing lines.
