Abstract:
The collecting bag comprises a bag member (1) and a discharge portion (6) including a closure device (7). An accommodating means (8) is provided within the outer contours of the bag member for accommodating at least a part of the discharge portion in the position of use of the bag. The accommodating means includes a slit (20) in the comfort layer (52) overlying the front film blank (2), such that a part of the discharge portion may be lodged in the space between joint sections that connect inner tubular film elements with the film blanks of the bag member.
Abstract:
A wound care device for local treatment of pain in a wound comprising an active pain relieving composition, wherein said composition is an anti-inflammatory pain killing agent. The wound care device is suitable for treatment of pain in open wounds. The device may be in the form of a wound dressing, and the pain relieving composition may be delivered to the wound through a controlled release system.
Abstract:
A disposable closure for an artificial intestinal or urethral opening in the form of a body having a cup form having an internal space being capable of accommodating a stoma, characterised in that the rim of the open end of the cup is provided with a flange part stretching essentially perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the closure and that the surface of the flange facing away from the closed end of the cup is provided with a skin-friendly adhesive may be used for safe temporary closing of a stoma without the risk of causing mechanical damage to the stomal wall and which prevents intestinal contents from passing the closure and which is easy to remove after use. It may also be used for protection of the outer surface of a stoma when applying a fresh collecting bag and furthermore as an aid for the user for an easier manner to place a fresh body side member or a one-piece receiving bag "correctly" ensuring a correct coupling and sealing.
Abstract:
An ostomy appliance comprising a front wall and a rear wall of flexible material forming a bag, the rear wall having an inlet opening into the bag by which waste material can enter the bag and one of the walls optionally has one or more vents through which gas may escape from the bag and having a filter covering said vent wherein gas inlet and outlet openings are provided in communication with a filter body, wherein at least an area of the wall immediate opposite the inlet opening is provided with a coating reducing the friction and the cohesion between the walls wherein also a part of the inner surface of the wall comprising the inlet opening is provided with a coating reducing the surface friction coefficient. Thus the adhesion between the walls is reduced and they will then be easier to separate for the material entering a fresh bag and gravitation will then force the material against the bottom of the bag and reduce the risk of blocking of the entrance of the bag and or a filter.
Abstract:
An article having an adhesive surface for adhering to human skin, said article comprising a first component constituting a continuos layer and at least a second component which is located in indentations in the adhesive surface of the first component without being in direct contact with the first component, said second component being separated from the first component by a cup shaped barrier layer, characterised in that the barrier layer is provided with a rim which extends into a flange.
Abstract:
The present invention is a method of producing a medical catheter having a catheter body part and a catheter tip in one integrated part by injection moulding and a catheter produced by the method. The invention is in particular concerned with the use of multicomponent moulding technique for producing a catheter, e.g. a catheter made from two materials with different characteristics. Such a catheter may be used for urinary catheterisation and for similar purposes of draining a bodily fluid.
Abstract:
A urinary catheter assembly comprises a urinary catheter (1) having on at least a part of its surface a hydrophilic surface layer (6) intended to produce a low-friction surface character of the catheter by treatment with a liquid swelling medium prior to use of the catheter and a catheter package (7) having a cavity (11) for accommodation of the catheter (1). The package (7) includes a compartment (12) having walls of a gas impermeable material and accommodating said liquid swelling medium or a catheter pretreated therewith for long time preservation of said low-friction surface character and provision of a ready-to-use catheter assembly.
Abstract:
A hydrocolloid gel composition, especially a wound gel composition, which comprises: a) a water insoluble, water swellable cross-linked cellulose derivative; b) an alginate; and c) distilled water in a sufficient amount to make up the difference between the amount of ingredients a) + b) and 100 % and wherein the gel comprises from 0.05 to 5.00 % by weight of alginate, shows better absorption capacity than known gels, accelerates the healing by serving as a slow-release system for active ingredients promoting wound healing.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a condom comprising at least on a part of the inner and/or outer side, a physiological barrier material being able to transmit pressure impulses, friction and heat, said barrier material comprising: a) a first constituent in the form of a physiologically acceptable synthetic polymer, natural polymer and/or modified natural polymer; and b) optionally a second constituent in the form of a woven, non-woven or "knitted" material; and c) optionally a third constituent in the form of fibres and/or particles of a physiologically acceptable material being compatible with the first constituent and the second constituent if present.
Abstract:
A breast pad (10), adapted to be in contact with the breast (not shown) of a lactating woman so as to absorb spontaneously exuded milk, comprises a first liquid pervious body-contacting member (1), a second liquid impervious member (4), and an absorbing member (3) between the first and second member. The breast pad has a geometry, which can be formed to fit discreetly over the female breast when the breast nipple is disposed within the pad so that at least more than 50 % of the projected area of the absorbent member is disposed beneath the breast nipple. Improved discretion and a relatively better absorbance capacity are achieved.
