PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion assembly for an adjustable profile air bag whereby it is possible to control a better releasing mechanism of a tying strap for generating a final expansion profile of the air bag. SOLUTION: The air bag assembly 18 has an efficient constitution and an effect such as to hold restraint air bag tying elements 30, 30' and 30" in s shortened working length while a first set is under specified conditions and to elongate the tying elements while a second set is under the specified conditions. The extension of the elements is performed interlocking with the distribution of expansion gas having an increased volume to an air bag cushion 20. The air bag assembly is actuated by two or more or less of actuator devices 69 and 81 for actuating an inflation step in a two-stage inflator 40, and at the same time, the distribution of the expansion gas having an appropriate volume for the desired cushion profile is generated, so that it is possible to control properly lengths of the elements. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of directly applying a brazing flux to a brazing face. SOLUTION: This method includes a step for forming a brazing face by coating a substrate with a filler metal using a dynamic spray method. Following the application of the filler metal to the substrate, a brazing flux can be applied directly to the brazing face in the form of either dry powder or moist slurry. Depending on the condition of the brazing face, it is possible to make the coated flux stick to the surface without using a binder or a resin material additionally. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized, simple and efficient constant velocity joint. SOLUTION: The constant velocity joint assembly 10 is provided with inside and outside joint members (12, 14) having engaging contact surfaces (36, 38) to support the joint for a joint around a common center point A. The joint members have a ball groove 44 branched inside the joint, and the surfaces (46, 48) of their inside and outside ball grooves are offset in the axial direction to the center point in order to push away balls 16 to the inside in the axial direction. A ball retainer 18 is provided inside the outside joint member 12. The ball retainer 18 is energized to be in an engaging state with an end part 52 of the inside joint member 14 by a spring 64, is engaged with the balls 16 in the ball grooves (46, 48), and is pivotally moved around the center point A of the joint in order to hold them while keeping them in a common plane. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for estimating the parameters of an electric machine including a controller and a switching unit. SOLUTION: A controller executes a parameter estimation process 100 responsive to at least one of a current value and a torque command, and the results 70 of the parameter estimation process represent the estimated parameters 110 of an electric machine. The parameter estimation includes a method for estimating the temperature of the electric machine, and the controller executes a temperature estimation process in response to a temperature signal from a temperature sensor connected operably with the controller and transmitting a temperature signal corresponding to the measured temperature to the controller.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for estimating a parameter of an electric machine having a controller and a switching unit, and to provide a system therefor. SOLUTION: The controller responds to at least one of a current sensor and a temperature sensor 13. The controller executes a parameter estimating process 100, which responds to at least one of the current value and a temperature estimated value, and a result 70 of the process indicates an estimated parameter 110 of the electric machine. The parameter estimating includes a method for estimating a temperature of the machine. The machine has the temperature sensor for transmitting a temperature signal corresponding to the measured temperature to the controller. The controller executes the temperature estimating process in response to the temperature signal from the temperature sensor.
