Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve a selectivity and stability of a catalyst while maintaining the activity of the catalyst by allowing the catalyst to contain a small quantity of zeolite and a considerable quantity of a binder. CONSTITUTION: A composition useful as a catalyst support for hydrogenation treatment comprises a crystalline aluminosilicate of the zeolite Y type, a binder and a dispersion of silica-alumina in an alumina matrix, which contains =25 wt.%, preferably >=30 wt.% of the binder >=30 wt.%, preferably >=40-70 wt.% of the dispersion. More preferably the ratio by weight of the binder to the zeolite Y type is 2-40. The composition is useful for a hydrocarbon conversion process, particularly hydrocracking process.
